On pulling off the masking tape it lifted two bit of the grey, must have been oily or dirt.

Tried both PVA and Gorilla clear. No difference apart from the price. I also think the gorilla stuff dried quicker too.

What's wrong with the grey paint? I think it looks nice. Translucent enough to show the preshading.
