bughunterThank you all! Regarding the wood (hard for me to translate), best ist "pear", also "service tree" (that is really the translation of german "Elsbeere" ), "box tree" (german "Buchsbaum" ) and in general from fruits, so different kinds of cherry, e.g. "black cherry". Mahagoni and many others have too much structure, water channels and so on.

gorbyThanks Bughunter that's great. Just had a look online and apparently there is a 'wild service tree', which I have never heard of before, but I do have some pear and box wood, so I may have a play around with them.

bughunterThe german "Elsbeere" is also called "Schweizer Birnbaum" translated as "swiss pear tree", so if you have pear - that is may be the same.
