Seems the pilot has had several shots in the back...

Hello Brian, a really great start! 👍
Could you please tell me more about the color on the bottom of the plane? I saw it on a few forums and have read some comments about it, but I could not find the source on the net that is claiming that the real thing had Japanese trainer yellow on the under surfaces. Thank you

aviationofjapan.com/..al-build-review.html hi, this site has a relevant photo of this plane albeit in b/w but with insight to likely colour.

There's a profile here for tsukuba kokutai which is the same trainer squadron as this model. wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/f/1039/65/11

Lovely finish on this! How was the fit of the Kit overall?
25 April 2016, 03:13
Brian McColl
thanks. Lee, I had no fit issues with this at all. The gun cowl immediately in front of the windscreen was a tight fit getting the gun breaches over the instrument panel though, although not too difficult to do. Such a nice kit, I got another one!

I am still a failure at panel lines/pin washes. What do you use and what's your technique?

Excellent paintwork, great Zeke !

Hi Paolo, after a gloss clear coat over the decals has cured for 24 hours, I apply thinned oil paint wash over the whole surface, leave to dry for about 30-40 minutes, then wipe off with dry kitchen towel. Wear a latex glove to prevent fingerprints. Check out Youtube Video

That's a great video Brian, gives very good clear explanation...
I've not seen it before and in my time I've seen many, just wish they'd cut the music!!!🤔

I know what you mean, the music is a bit rubbish, but the volume control can sort that. There's a few good videos by this guy, not all in English, but you can pick up a few good techniques there.

Wow, beautiful! I admire your accurate work with the peeled off paint- not too much and very effective. Great work!

Thanks Roland, I used to use silver paint to chip the paintwork, but I didn't like the effect. I use a silver pencil now, it's much easier to control. I know IJN and IJA aircraft are typically depicted with heavy wear to the paintwork, but I wanted mine to look a bit less worn out as it is a trainer airplane and not on the front lines.
