Really nice work especially as it's your first attempt at a diorama. Nice weathering job also on the Tiger. One bit of positive criticism I would observe is the glossy uniforms, something I have problems with at times.I find an overspray with matt varnish or some dusting with pastels can settle it down 🙂

Cool work and alot of good figure painting and mud! The foliage is well done, too!

I like it. For me, a diorama must tell a Story. You've done a good job, because your work tell a Story.

Yep, i agree with Arne!

I agree with everyone, really is very good !
Though the glossy clothing and folded roof on the car need to be matt but aside from that excellent, the faces are pretty damn good too 🙂

Very well executed. My only point would be it's maybe too early for gators on short boots..but hey I am no experten!!!

I like the extra touch of placeing the German film guy for propaganda.

I like the foot paths and worn grass.

I like the mud caked onto the tracks some of it damp whilst other bits look dry, this dio reminds me a little bit of "that" scene in Apocalypse Now 🙂

@Martyn, thanks for compliments and constructive criticism. You know what's odd... all of the figures have at least two coats of testors dullcote. The kübel driver has two coats of dullcoat and one of vallejo matt varnish as well. They've also all been dusted with pastel chalk dust too. They were gloss coated with Future first, then washed, then done over with dullcote and pastels... yet they're still more of a satin finish. Any suggestions how to fix that? I didn't want to keep loading on the dullcote lest I start filling in detail or something like that.

@Choppa, thanks. I realize now I overlooked the roof a bit. Thanks for the pointer.

@Julian, agreed, but that MG team was about the only one that fit what I was looking for and there ain't no way I'm sculpting my own figures (yet). 🙂 Thanks for the compliments and thoughts.

@All, thank you for the compliments and criticisms. I'm happy with it for a first time dio attempt. I'm going to practice on a couple more smaller projects before I get too crazy with another big dio like this. This *was* a pretty ambitious project for a guy who's only been at this since last December. 🙂

Damn good effort though !
Re. dull & matt coats apparently keeping the airbrush more than 40cm's from the model whilst using high pressure is the ticket, really super light coats with lots of air to dry each coat quickly, 3 or 4 more coats should do it 🙂
No doubt I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here but worth chucking it in the pot 🙂

Sounds like good advice Choppa. Sometimes it can be a real pain getting rid of the gloss look 🙂

Ya, and sometimes dullcote just ends up glossy.... 🙁

Dull coats go glossy when to much goes on as it floods & self levels forming a smooth surface 🙂

That makes complete sense, Choppa. I'll give that method a try next time. Thanks!

Liquitex arcylic matte can be thinned an sprayed too...however I d recommend gaining some experience with it . If you look at my XP-54 and -56 both have this finish.

Album info

A propaganda team films as an early Tiger I and accompanying infantry move towards the front. This is my first ever attempt at a diorama. I'm happy with the way the kits turned out, but acknowledge that my terrain modeling skills definitely need some improvement. Be gentle! 🙂
