Concerning the Caudron Simoun: I read the advise - and followed it - to place the fuselage halves on a flat surface and align the windshield halves along the mating surfaces of the fuselage halves. When aligned then glue.
Worked quite well for me - although the halves are not finally glued together yet.
You might give it a try if not too late.

Thank you Michael and Alberto. I wrote reams of text as replies but they seemed to have vanished entirely. o7

Added GAZ AA utility vehicle. This was my first foray into motors. First try for painting wood from plastic which turned out well I think (lots of turpentine wash)..(2008) -- could've been Eastern Express?

Thumbs up for the civilian GAZ truck 👍 - and I do hope that the Caudron Simoun (also thanks to Michael advice) will one day be finished - still got to tackle mine...

Good to see you around Alex.

I will post a shot of F-ANRU, what is left of it, for RELIQUARY. Now, F-ANRU formed part of a contemporary advertisement for luxury travel. Renault and Caudron provided sheer luxury and convenience apparently, so the ad poster replete with femme fatale, a saloon Renault, pet dog, chauffer and mystery man swarm about the oval door - which is on the starboard/wrong side of the aircraft. The plane itself was a minty metallic green entirely, with white registration. You can find the poster on Googles.

Glad you like the truck. All the carpenter's wood at back (walnut), was stolen for my Pentekontor/bireme.

Steady as she goes...

That silver plane in the background of Ouragan (hurricane)/Spit pic is an RWD 5. Synchronicity.

Added the Ki-51 to RELIQUARY. Just the canopy to restore and she is back in the collection.

Oh. What happened?

The perennial problem with Heller's Simoun: that split canopy, an absurd and frustrating design 'solution'. The control panel needed support from behind because I just HAD to add that visible metal arm behind the foremost port side window. AMS.

Poor Ki-51 Sonia was sheer neglect. I must protest at Japan's lust for greenhouse canopies. Making my way now by foot to Japan's Embassy with a placard; a bloody silly idea because the building is 300 plus km away. Also the modeling Muse deserted me at that time (cancer etc etc etc). A few more to restore yet.

Best wishes to you.

Is the canopy still intact?
If so you can sand it thinner and polish it afterwards translucent again. The metal bar is a prominent feature indeed, but will most likely interfere with the canopy as much as the instrument panel, I am afraid.
Cross my fingers that you find a solution.

No, not as such. It's covered in white putty and resembles something like an Austrian Cake Festival entry. It's not pretty. Or tasty. Will buy another Simoun, crack open the innards and re-use the wooden flooring. One day. Oh, got the Caudron Goeland, maybe form a project for both. Never create too many projects that'll never get finished, however.

Best wishes Michael.

Added a restored Fiat G.50, just the way I like 'em. Gallons of gloss, die-cast look.

Last renovation is an Il-2, just its undercarriage trashed. Still looks sharp with its WEM black and green cammo. Then back to my projects.
