These pictures open the building process for my CL-215 from Heller. I am very impressed with the kit! I find the details on the outer skin very appealing, even if I will eventually sand back the rivet "teeth" for at least two reasons.
I am pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of fit - no longer a dewy model, but certainly buildable to a good standard and with pleasure, at least so far it seems.
I get a little help from an etched parts set - which is particularly noticeable in the cockpit.
Until now, this project has been somewhat overshadowed by the 32 B-24, but now that its big brother is nearing completion, the CL-215 should also pick up some drive.

Well done so far, Roland.
Will it go on a water base, on land or in flight?

Following. A very interesting subject. I'm sure I saw three of these parked at Halkidiki Airport when I went on hols there in 2022.

Thank you for the encouraging feedback! Gary, I haven't seen any "live" yet - but I'd love to. There's still the chance.
This model is shown standing on the undercarriage, as I'm also planning a CL-415 that fills its extinguishing agent tanks just above the water....

I'm following. I'm building a 415. I haven't decided what nationality to do it with yet. I have seen one right with Greece. He took water before me in the bay of Asprovalta. In Spain, two 415s passed us in quick succession. A few days after that, in Naples, they put out a fire literally 200 meters from us all day. I have shown pictures from there.

I envy anyone who has experienced a CL-215 or 415 in action! and then in these ways. Your pictures are spectacular and some of them are beautiful - apart from the dramatic occasion, they're just great!
I'm also planning to lay a CL-415 on keel this year, this time in flight. Thank you for this inspiring comment!

Now the first batch of etched parts from the detail set have been applied - the wing fins are particularly worthy of attention - and the CL-215 can make the first acquaintance of the airbrush.... By the way, I have reduced the stubbly rivets on the entire surface to a more realistic size.

Following!

Personal experience: about 30 years ago (a little less but let's round it up) I was travelling with my father to the city were I was studying. In Amphilochia (a small city in western Greece) a 215 came down rather steeply and quietly to fill her tanks. I nearly peed my pants, I thought she was gonna crash, but then the pilot levelled her so smoothly and she touched the surface gracefully, got fat and went away with a roar. Some sight to watch.

Great work Roland!

Thank you-that's a great story, Maciej, thank you for sharing that CL-215 experience!

Have one myself but very displeased with what I've done with it. This one is looking way better. Will, of course, follow

Thank you for your words, Finn, I appreciate your interest!
A few new pictures from this morning: everything that should be red has been coloured once. Now these areas will be masked off so that the yellow shades can be applied.
Touch-ups are unavoidable with such a relatively complex colour scheme - I'll have a look at the overall impression once the large areas of red and yellow have been applied.

The masks are off - now the CL-215 shows the colours it will have as a finished model. I'm looking forward to applying the decals tomorrow, but even more to the application of dirt and wear and tear....

That makes me happy!

The new pictures look quite similar to their predecessors... but: now all decals are on it! The next step is to find the right degree of mattness/gloss and then start with "tear and wear".

It's always nice to see how the decals bring a model to life!
You build reminds me on my visit in Speyer some years ago. I was interesting to see it from inside! sinsheim.technik-museum.de/de/canadair-cl-215

Thank you both!
I believe that! I had the opportunity to visit Sinsheim once, but there was no CL-215 there - at least I don't think so. Thanks for the link! That's helpful because I'm currently working on the aerial cabling.

In fact that are two connected museum places, Sinsheim and Speyer (not far away). We visited both on one weekend with a combi ticket. And you are right: the CL-215 is shown in Speyer: google.de/maps/place..,8.4455101,81m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x4797b6b84fb1db1b:0xba5ad9e4c9b08e28!8m2!3d49.3114076!4d8.4471718!16zL20vMGY2Y2Y3?entry=ttu

Now it's happily done! Happy, above all, because a lot had to be invested in the now somewhat aged Heller kit. This started right away when the rivets were toned down and continued right through to the end. Two things are recommended: on the one hand the available etched parts detailing set, on the other hand a good study of the original - this has revealed interesting facts about the mouring device at the very front of the bow or the attachment of the antennas.
This wonderful kit is still highly recommended (and not only because it is the only way to build this fascinating aircraft! 🙂 I'll probably have to get round to building the CL-415 kit 🙂
Thanks for your interest and motivating and helpful comments!
