Great color! I owned this kit a couple years a ago and never could be fine with those rims. I don't know. They don't fit to that pretty cool car. I don't know, why they are still as the only option in the box. Were they standard in this year?
Your color looks awesome! Did you paint yll the chrome silver? When I think about it, my question would be: how bada$$ would this car look with black (gloss) painted chrome but still with the white stripes.
Only one thing: the chain is too much in my point of view.

I started this as a test mule for candy paint. It's coming along better than expected 🙂 The kit wheels and tires are junk (why can't revell get wheels right?) but the rest of the kit is nice. I cut off the kit stub axles and drilled the chassis for 2mm axles and aoshima wheels. Brakes are hobby design/crazy modeller parts.

Mr D ... 🙂 I like too to see, how much progress my skills during the last 10 years did. Good for me is, that I own most of my model kits since I was a kid. My first plane, car and truck are still in my shelf or boxes.
Because I stumbled somehow over your wip, I checked the history of the kit. It is rally unbelievble, that those engine openings are on the bottom of the motors. Amazing. I wouldn't notice that without your hint.

CAT4 coming to the rescue with what seems like a nice set of parts that can backdate the Hasegawa F-8E. While we all really want a full kit tooled by someone, getting conversion kits is the next best thing, and the ones out there are all but impossible to obtain, and none of them really capture the shape of the nose very well. Not anymore, for the moment at least. Tonight I got a good look at the nose shape of the new kit and find it compares well to reference photos. Next up is seeing how it fits on the F-8 fuselage, which means some plastic surgery.

Added some more photos comparing the kits with 1:48 F-8C scale drawings from the Muroc kit. So far I like the overall shape, but the front plate where the radome connects makes the nose a little too long overall. Might just need to shave it down and blend the shape some.

I found that before laying down metal paint, spraying the surface with 3 layers of GX 100, and sanding it up to 12,000 between layers then buffing it to a high gloss really makes a very good surface for a mirror finish. Xtreme metal chrome seemed to work the best for me.
