Sometimes the first topic given for a multitopic kit is repeated below it, in the multitopic list, but sometimes it is not, like in this item I just entered:
Diorama Accessory (Fujimi D5, 1:76)
This means it is also not possible to add any marking details. But all three Topics are still searchable, I notice.
Could it be because I based it on another item, and got the first Topic copied from there?
Just a curiosity, I guess, but it might just affect some functionality. It certainly would, if adding marking details was of interest for that particular kit.
Here's an example when all Topics, including the first one, are shown in the multitopic list:
House & Look-out (Nitto 449-250, 1:76)
Diorama Accessory (Fujimi D5, 1:76)

No, the problem is solved here.
you need to fill in both Topic and subject field for multi-topic kits. And you can assign both the main topic and the extra topics. (without having to re-add the main topic a second time)

Why do you need to add topic/subject for multi-topic kits
Because without people would add 10's of topics.
Without it, we miss key info in the facts section
