Nice! Hetzer time! 😄 The PE detailing looks superb. Well done! 👍

Thanks John! It was a really nice kit to build, though the PE instructions were a little too simple. I had to do a lot of trial and error to get the PE positioned.

Yeah, unfortunately that is the case with quite a few PE sets. Personally, I feel Eduard has THE very best PE instructions on the planet 🙂

I must say the PE set does look good! Division Miniature has never before been on my radar but they are now 🙂

Looking forward to the next update, Anthony! 👍

Thanks for the compliments on the PE!
I agree about the Eduard PE instructions. Sometimes they outstrip the kit instructions. Division Miniature PE was really good and the bends were perfect and, fortunately, sometimes intuitive. If you go with DM, just be prepared because their instructions are nothing close to Eduard.

I'm used to Dragon instructions, so I think I'm good 😄 haha!😉
But seriously, thanks for the heads up! 👍 🙂

I'll take the help I can get. Thanks for the observation. I'll give it a look as I get ready paint.

Very nice Hetzer. What camo will you choose?

Late war tri-color (MM Panzer 43 yellow, green, and brown) as shown in the kit's paint guide. I have no idea how or whether I'll paint "dot" pattern as shown in the paint guide.

Christian Meyerhoff
Well Anthony, if you mean "DOT" as a term of " Hinterhaltstarnung" it will come out easy by using a very small brush and thinned paint. Used this method on my king tiger.

Christian - thanks for the tips. I will give it a go.
Vorya and Co. thanks for the support and inspiration. You guys definitely get me psyched to give it a go, Hinterhaltstarnung and all.

@Anthony I really like your work and your tiny Jagdpanzer 😉
But one thing is: did you turn the Backfenders? They seem turned?
2 November 2014, 23:42
Anthony Flanagan
Joerg - if I understand your query, then no. I did not turn the rear fenders. As best I could understand the instructions they were to remain straight. But I tend to be heavy handed and certainly warped them as I refit them several times. Also, when I applied the pen to the grooves, they warped and bowed/curled a little. Since these pictures I have put on the skirts and found the rear port fender extends outward too far. 🙁

Given where I am I plan on making the best of that boo boo. No reconstruction planned. 🙂
Still this was a really fun, fast build PE and all.

I think I understood Jörg: The back fenders look like the left one was fitted on the right side, and the right on the left. Hence what should be the upper side, is now the lower, and the lower side is now on top. That would explain the pen marks on the grooves. (which only should be groves when watched from below). Everyone still following?😉
Or easier: The back fnders should look just like the front fenders....

Yes Fabian, That's what I meant. Sometimes it's hard to find the right words 😉😉😉

Inside outside?

In yet more other words😉 they are upside down. The recesses should be ridges.

I'll be damned! I still got those fenders wrong. Okay, now I am going to consider doing a refit since they are that far off. I thought it was odd that the rear and front fenders were opposite in appearance (top v. bottom). Thanks for the information guys. I appreciate the feedback. I hope can fix it.

Haha! No worries! It happens to the best of us!😉

Just the other day I noticed on a Sherman I am working on that I had fitted the filters (on the back of the hull) upside down😉 Unfortunately I had already painted and weathered large parts of it. I really had to redo them but it was a LOT of work. So it's fortunate that your fender issue was discovered relatively early in the process 🙂 👍

Tell me about it. It mostly happens when I am absolutely sure 😄 Like with the skirt on the Jagdpanzer IV

HK - that's a good one! It seems always the case that the very item you pour over for hours to get it straight is the most likely to get botched (at least for me it seems). 😉
John - thanks for that tidbit. It does make me feel better that this could happen to anyone in the hobby. 👍👍
Joerg - and that's one of the great things I like about building kits today. Decades ago there was no internet or emails etc. I would build and whatever I built was limited by my imagination as there were no feedback or pictoral resources at all. So I would build something knowing it was not so good but there was nothing I could do about it. So, for me at least, do not hesitate to fire away with any comments or suggestions on a build/album. It really does help. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Cheers!!

Cortex - will do.
Alberto - thanks!
Actually, this one has been sitting on the shelf for quite awhile after I had some frustrations with some of the PE I am using. I think you guys just got this project a second wind! I will keep you posted.

PE I know exactly what you mean ... Using CA instant glue gel made things a lot easier for me ... Keep the great job on this beautiful tank 🙂
