Thanks to you guys who have sent me a welcome note. Getting back into this hobby after a 40+ year hiatus. The last Tamiya builds I did were in the early 1970's using Testors tube cement and enamel paint applied with brushes. Wow, things sure have changed since then!!! Right now, I'm in the process of getting my airbrush configuration set up and just absorbing like a sponge all the new information I can. I'm writing notes ro myself on issues as I go along, so I'll probably be posting at some point. Right now, I do know that I will be looking for information/suggestions in at least 3 areas: (1) conversion/upgrade materials for older models; (2) acrylic vs. enamel paints; and (3) airbrushing and finishing techniques. As to the latter, I'm not too crazy with some of the finished products I've been seeing on YouTube videos and posts. The finished products, even with washing and weathering applied, have too much of that "just-off-the-showroom floor" shiny look to me. I'd like a more realistic look to my builds - the Tamiya builds I did 40 years ago, and which have been sitting in my basement collecting dust ever since, have mor of the look that appeals to me (including the scenic shrubbery I added for camo effect when I built them).

foxonehobbies.com/ is our IPMS clubs online hobby shop. J.R. is a great help when it comes to weathering as he is a perfectionist. I started with the AK interactive enameling weathering techniques on washed, fading and oils DVD. You can also visit their website at www.ak-interactive.com
