Kelly Wellington After the masking of the Dunkelgrun, Graugrun is added. I expect two coats of the Graugrun, then to go back and second coat the Dunkelgrun.

I'm following the paint guidelines, but this is a grayer set of splinter colors than those done on the Stuka, which was greener, with Dunkelgrun and Swartzgrun combo. Marine colors?

Holger Kranich Hi Kelly! Do you know what RLM coloures you should apply by the instructions? It looks as there is a Standard RLM scheme to apply. There where special maritime coloures but not on a He 115, as far as i know. Here it looks as you should paint it in RLM 65 ( underside ) and 70/71 on the upper fuselage... But I'm not an expert!
Your work looks great so far, especially on such an old kit!

Kelly Wellington I like it. I did use what MM calls its 'Graungrun', which is a gray-green that's greyer then the dark green that is 'Swartzgrun', instead of mixing a gray with a smidgeon of light olive, like the instructions suggested. (I think the instructions were meant for another paint line - Humbrol - and and earlier era. I used MM 'Hellblau' for the underside, with 'Deep Yellow' for the underside wingtips. I get the impression that MM has really tried to hew to the RLM colorchips. Once treated with Future, and then Dullcote, they look exceedingly similar, so I don't really think it matters.

I've recently Future-coated it in preparation for decals. It looks really odd that way...like it has been 'shrinkwrapped' in plastic.

Kelly Wellington Now _with_ decals. Still sporting that 'shrinkwrapped look' thanks to the Future coat. But once I coat over the decals and then Dullcoat the lot (sans clear bits, of course), I can then add it to the 'completed' list.

I had no idea it was an 'old' kit...I bought it because it was a 're-release' with lots of hoopla, clear back in July 2012. I bought it because I have a 'seaplane thing'.

wim bruynooghe nice!i have seen this one for real at sola in norway,they salvaged it from a fjord.it's laying in a gigantic bath tub now for de- salting,when this is finished they will restore the plane and put it in the museum at sola.have a good time building it!

Kelly Wellington Struts! My bane., So far, I snapped a tail strut and now it looks like crap. The attachment of the pontoons went okay with the veritcal struts, but the diagonals were, are, and probably will be hellish. The thing is, the diagonal float strut probably won't be noticed, but the insignificant tail strut sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb.

The nose glass was tricky, too, but I prevailed in that, only to deal rather cavalierly with the 'rocking' canopy, which took a good deal of fiddling, filing and gap glue.

Urban Gardini I think that Revell recently have reboxed this one. But I've to say that it isn't the same thing when it isn't a box with the letters "No painting neccesary" on the side...

Wilfried Bogaerts Yep, is now available in Revell box, and there's also a new mould comming from Special Hobby, but that's 48 scale

I have the Matchbox kit too but really doesn't like the heavy canopy framing.
I prefer the old Frog mould like this kit or the rebox He 115 C-1 (Revell 4342, 1:72) .

The next Revell Heinkel He 115 (Revell 04123, 1:72) is linked to the Frog but must be a Matchbox repop? Isn't it?

Cein Klaus Thanks Burkhard! I infact was sipping a nice Henry Westons Cider and was enjoying a puff on a Guantanamera cigar (which are out of shot) whilst planning my build.

Cein Klaus Yep, got some lovely shots of the fore glasshouse and of the weapons bay which I intend to open up. Haven't got any though of the pilot and navigators cockpit. Any joy there yourself?
