Melchior Hi Olivier. Check the web-site of Lone Star Models. LSM releases some Cobra Company parts, the Cobra Company Set is available with the number LSMCC 48044. Good luck!

Olivier Hi melchior, many thanks for the info!
30. November 2018 at 16:15:24
Michael Phillips I saw on ARC Forums yesterday that of the 150 different resin sets in the Cobra Company lineup, Mike has about half of them re-cast. So LSM is well on the way to bringing these back to the market, which is a great thing. There are several sets I want to get, and when they are available I will buy them and not wait this time and risk not being able to get them some day.
30. November 2018 at 17:36:26

Augie Roden are fairly typical short run, but with care and plenty of dry fitting they are ok.
9. April 2018 at 22:53:37
Michael Hickey I heard the canopy is the real killer, I think that's why I have hesitated starting any of mine. The rest should be pretty good. When are you going to start her, as she is not exactly on the small side. ;)
10. April 2018 at 01:04:09
Clifford Keesler I want to get the "D" model first, and Resin seats for all three, then I will start them.

Jonas For those who are thinking of building a Mohawk: ADD WEIGHT! As much as you can. I added some, it was enough, but barely....
13. November 2015 at 14:37:39
Bart Goesaert Nice one so far. Are there any other things besides weight that you should keep in mind while building this one?
13. November 2015 at 15:42:09
Jonas The Canopy is quite a challenge. I spend a lot of time dry fitting it, it would never come out perfect. Putting the side windows in the open position would solve it, but I don't like it that way. Starting with the side windows, then the top helped quite a bit. I will need to fill two small gaps near the bottem edge of the front window

Other things, quite a bit of flash on the spruces, but nothing you can't take care of with some effort. Very fragile landing gear parts (but it makes it quite detailed)
13. November 2015 at 19:03:16
Günther Debiscop Jonas,

as the ordenance seems to be hollow, maybe you can put some weight in there too to balance the plane some more.
30. November 2015 at 11:16:40
Jonas As is expected for any aircraft, ordnance is positioned on the Center of Gravity, almost directly on the MLG line for this Mohawk. I considered/tried it. No way I could fit enough lead in that small space forward of the landing gear for it to make a real difference.
30. November 2015 at 18:48:08
Christian Ristits This seems to be a lot of work and a difficult build...but you are doing well and I expect this will be a real eye-catcher!
30. November 2015 at 18:58:33

26. August 2013 at 23:12:27
Creepy Pete Thanks. @ Dave, the kit is really nice, not much trouble with that. When fitting the resin cockpit, you do have to sand down the cockpit floor and nosegear bay roof very thin to make things fit. I didn't use the kit decals, but from all reviews I've read, they pretty useless anyway.

Kevin Farrell Kevin Farrell I just opened my OV-1A/JOV/1A 1/48 Roden kit and WOW - I was blown away by the quality, detail and the well thought-out-ness of the product. Nobody on the Pacific Rim produces anything much better than this little kit from Kiev! Everything on the sprues are crisp, clean and flash-free. You just know in your bones up front that "Tab A into Slot B" are going to be faultless. The finish on the wings & other large surfaces is not perfectly smooth, but primer, paint & overcoat will solve that non-issue
Prior to this, I knew absolutely nothing about Roden other than they had what I needed! I am building the entire 1st Cav inventory ('65 to present) and the Mohawk was indeed a player - and an active player at that! (Capt. Ken Lee of the 131st AvCo got himself an "unofficial" kill of a MiG-17. A certain Col Robin Olds bought the story - and who could - or want to - argue with Robin Olds?) The USAF wing wipers we're truly and fully p.o.'d that the army had the gall to fly fixed-wing aircraft - much less accomplish a successful air-to-air take-down with a goofy-looking little turboprop!
Now that I've seen the kit in person and have done my "look-ups" on the net - I'm pretty jazzed about getting started. This was a great an unexpected gift.
I will be posting questions to the guys who have completed this build. I'm also hoping that I can get my hands on the IsraDecal IAF-50 sheet for the cherry on top!
Please post comments. I welcome them.

Kevin Farrell After my pleasant surprise of seeing the contents my Roden kit, I went back and read some of the "slam-ataries" by some of our colleagues. It appeared that a good portion of the gripes dealt with meshing the A/M stuff onto the donor kit. Been there, done that. So I will use those comments as guideposts on the go/no-go with Ed, SAC or anybody else for that matter. I don't like the thought of being naive, but after getting slammed by the truly awful Modelcraft F-82E Twin Mustang (see below), this Roden kit looks like a Kelly Johnson led project in comparison. I WILL ENJOY IT (my new mantra)
I am surprised by the volume and variety of aftermarket stuff for this little bird. Somebody somewhere must have purchased a large enough volume to justify the A/M productions Since the cockpit it truly a "greenhouse" in all respects, I'm considering some nice simple and inexpensive (har!) pieces to add some bling.
The Isradecals set for this are cost-prohibitive ($20+) when all we use is the top quarter of the sheet. They are nice decals, but they end up being $80 in a relative sense.

Charles Villanueva Looking forward to the progress of this build. Have not yet seen one as yet start to finish on a Mohawk. So Kevin enjoy the process. I am looking for one of these now but the DS version used by the Marines in 1991.

Philip De Keyser Nice work!! is this an easy build kit?

Soon Tuck Yee Thanks guys. This has been on hold for months, languishing on the shelf of "I'll finish this someday".
@Philip : not a shake-and-bake kit, for sure. The multi-part canopy is especially fiddly.
