This Fulcrum looks great! Keep it coming! Did you find out what was the reason for the problem with your airbrush? Have you tried replacing the silicone seals in the nozzle? If they leak in even just a very small amount of air, everything goes wrong.

Good morning Thomas!
Thanks, I hope I will finish the Aggressor Mig-29 over the following days, it has a very nice decal design.
The airbrush problem was complicated, it was initially clogged (I'm blaming Humbrol acrylics for that, I always take good care of the airbrush and clean it after each spray) and while trying to clean the nozzle with a needle I enlarged the nozzle head bu mistake. I changed the nozzle and needle and the airbrush sprays beautifully now, decided on using Tamiya/MRP and Vallejo paints for the new projects.
To get to the root cause of the problem I still need to use the old needle in the new nozzle and the old nozzle with the nee needle, as a needle can be bended without easily noticing.

thank you very much DetMattes! I like the color I've managed to obtain on the top exterior, was a bit concerned after I've applied the "similar" recommended one in my stash and there wasn't much contrast.
On this kit there are 2 versions of the Mig-29A, the one I'm building for the Polish Air Force (although I think they have been all transferred to Ukraine) and a very interesting one from the Russian Air Force with a Dark Blue instead of the dark gray on the polish version.
I'm thinking about maybe getting another identic kit and building the Russian version as well. As general advice for this kit is the take your time in sanding the nozzle, back of the cockpit and engine intakes as the fit is pretty poor. Rest I think went pretty smooth so far. 🙂

Hey gents,
Have any of you tried refurbishing and repainting your old scale models? I'm curious to know if anyone has ventured into this unknown territory for me.
Also, I'm wondering where you all find spare parts like wheels, decals, and other missing pieces?
I've got a bunch of models from my younger days that I'd love to breathe new life into – seems like an interesting project which will definetely bring some satisfaction with before vs after! Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

<-- Have not tried to re-paint his models.
Some decals are bought as an aftermarket item, and if you know what you are doing, you can probably make your own decals on a printer, with so so quality I imagine, unless you toss a lot of money at the problem.
When sanding paint, don't breath in the dust. Also (!), make sure to use a brush to remove dust from panel lines, else you risk sealing that stuff in. Presumably, you can't easily remove paint from panel lines, if these are mostly filled with paint, but maybe not a big deal.
I've never tried to re-paint a model. I remember using some grease from my forehead via my finger tip, smeared over the olive green paint on some artillery 1:35 model, the barrel, and it looked kind of nice and shiny, some satin look. Not something I can recommend though. 🙂
Hm, in any case, it is very important to remove 100% of the dust, lying on the surface on those old models, else your end result will look "dusty" and weird.
Bits of sanding sponge would be useful for smoothening the painted surface, before adding another layer of new paint. Like grit 1000, 2000.

Thanks a lot @Treehugger, great tips, I'm wearing a mask when airbrushing and I'll do the same when sanding the paint on the old models.
I will start then with removing the dust, then starting to sand down the old paint, thoroughly cleaning the model on panel lines and then repaint. I have some left over decals for a Mig-29, but printing some sounds like a better option as you suggested. I'll get the sanding sponge w/ grit 1000 / 2000.
Overall it doesn't seem easy and I heaven't heard of many people doing it. I've seen some on youtube using a special substance and leaving the model in it for many hours and the paint magically coming off, maybe also something to try.
Still that doesn't solve the missing parts issue which is kind of big 🙂

Ah okay, maybe it was just the lighting that made ut kook like this. Still, clean camo nonetheless.

Thanks! The fact that I painted with enamels which are also thicker makes it look like paint brushing 🙂 I'm using acrylics on the Rafale project, paint is much more thinner
