Love the weathering and camo! How is this Blitz by Takom kit? I'm assuming the build quality is great considering it's Takom.

Thank you Pietro, Derek and Shar for your comments. Glad, you like it. @Derek: the kit is worth its money. Only the front plate of the casemate will need quite a bit of sanding, as some guys who built this Porsche Jagdtiger before have mentioned already. Wonder wether Takom dealt with it in the new Porsche Jagdtiger kit.

Album info

From February 1944 to April 1945 only 85 Jagdtiger were delivered, of which 11 had the Porsche suspension (Werknummer 305001, 305003 - 305012).
The model represents the Werks-Nr. 305009, No. 102, produced in september 1944. With s. PzJgAbt. 653 it should take part in the Ardennenoffensive (Battle of the Bulge). But due to allied air superiority and railway damages the unit was spread in the Mosel/Eifel area.
Then s. PzJg.Abt. 653 saw heavy fighting in the Hagenau Forest in March 1945 with serious losses.
The Takom kit shows a very good fit and reasaonable details. Only the front plate of the casemate causes some troubles. I had to sand 1 to 2 mm at the lower edge, to fix it in position. The tracks took some time to assemble, but look great. As the 102 wears Zimmerit as high as the spare tracks, the Atak Zimmerit was suitable. It was easy to work with, had perfect fit and gives a very good impression how it might have looked.
The colour scheme with the basic RAL6003 Olive Green given in the instructions was on first sight not very suitable. Most photographs of Porsche Jagdtigers show RAL7028 Dark Yellow. But one photograph of 102 shown in this album made three tone camo more likely with an huge amount of Olive Green. It might be, that in preparation of Ardennenoffensive the crews improved their camo.
