Ben, it comes with them as decals, The ones on the "cake" body is a solid piece on top (I screwed up and added the 3 cones first or I could have put it underneath so I had to cut it up. Each of the 3 cones had flat decals for the "starburst" in the middle, those went on ok. THe side of the "cake" was a set of stripes I cut into 3 or 4 segements to make it easier to put on.

THEN the stripes on the sides of cones are each individually placed . THAT stunk, I cut each out, trimmed to length and placed it with a toothpick. Micro Set and Micro Sol solutions are a game changer for decals. Help you put them all on and then melt them to the paint so they lay flat, I used that for the "shingle" for the flag and united states on the body too, really great product.

It also is worth saying the decals were made for Atomic City by space model systems who makes great decals, sharp, tough and they go on great.

Thanks for the compliment!

Album info

My build of the great 1:12 Mercury capsule. Had some challenges, but the quality was terrific. Fit and finish have spoiled me and made me more judgemental of other models.

I did some small modifications, adding wiring behind the console as well as parachutes and lights.
