Very inspiring. I have all the bits to build one as well and have been a fan of Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles for a while. Love his series on the P-47s. Maybe soon....

Super ! I like the way you captured the „not too much used" look of the o.d. colour, like it probably would have looked in the early days of the 8th AF in Europe
👍

Thanks for the kind comments guys. The P-47 is one of my favourites and this model now has pride of place on the display shelf.

Album info

I wanted to build an early combat P-47C that would've been in action in 1943, the year the 8th Air Force really got going and started causing the Luftwaffe problems. The P-47 has a somewhat unfair reputation compared to it's stablemate, the Mustang. Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles youtube channel does an excellent 7 part series on the aircraft and I find his analysis quite compelling.

Decals are from Kit's World, depicting 'Little Butch' flown by Capt. William B "C.D." Smith, 334FS, 4th FG, 8th AF

I used the Loon Models P-47C 'flat' tankless belly and modified the cowling to be more like a P-47C with two less cowl flaps each side. Hopefully not too many P-47D bits on there but I'm happy enough with the look. The P-47B/C models due out from Dora Models in 2022 should be better models for a true early P-47.
