Next stop - a Mk.I Escort - either a Rally version of a standard saloon. Then I need to fit more spotlights like we had on ours. I just have to scour the web for the right 1/24 scale wheels/tyres - my dad put bigger ones on for when he was competing.

Oliver's Army was the first album that was 'passed on' to me - I think I was about 12. 'Green Shirt' is my favourite track.

Ha! Was gonna ask when u are doing a Mark1 equal justice!
Nothing on this planet looks as tough as a Mk1 with huge flares & wide steels ;)

I was my favourite slot car. We had a homemade track and use to put motors/chassis in 1/32 scale Airfix bodies. I think my Dad still has the course in his loft.
I haven't seen F&F 8, but the blue Escort Mk.I looks absolutely boss.

I had the BMW CSI with the box arches in red. I was always re-gluing the rear spoiler!
DM try www.motobitz.uk for your wheels / tyres and spot lights. They do Excellent resin cast items and Decals.

Yeah Motobitz! ........that's a great site, you posted me to that some months ago Nigel

Oh wow - I remember the Clubmans. We had a red one and a yellow one -and they each had a chequered roof. I nagged my Grandmother for the Porsche 911 with light-up headlights and was very disappointed with how feeble they were...

Thanks for the tip re motobitz, NIgel - it's always handy to have a clutch of resources. :)

No problem, they should have all you require even down to different types of tyre.

My first motor - a BMW Z* - has hotglue for rear lights. Its, um, it's a mess. I was going to put LEDs in (mistake #1) then decided not to, but I'd already made holes in the bodyshell (#2) larger than the decals {#3), painted it with artist acrylic (#4), which I then stripped off with acetone (#5)..... I'm surprised it hasn't simply dissolved on the shelf.
Thank plastic for YouTube!

This tinted Hood is very interessting! The Color Looks good and the build is clean too.

Your paint stand is creative ;)

That's a very nice build, I look forward to your next project. I'm with Dominik, that hood is different, certainly something I would like try for my models.

It's a little odd - the kit came with both left and right-hand drive dashboards, but only a single, transparent, bonnet, which was then assigned a paint colour anyway. There was no mention of leaving it blank in the instructions. I tried it tinted - with several aborted attempts, admittedly - but it obscured the engine too much.

Thank you for the compliments, everyone. The paint-stand is made out of those lollipop sticks sold in kids' art shops (we have one called The Works, where half the stock costs £1 a pack) - the bodyshell is held in place with double-sided sticky tape wrapped around a piece of scouring sponge to enable me to squidge it a little so I don't use to much pressure when mounting anything.

That is very creative and a brilliant solution.
I used some Pieces old kitchen work top pre-drilled with 8, 2mm holes In parallel inserted with 4 lengths garden wire bent into an L shape.
Place the vehicle body over the wire Which is strong enough to 'flex' and keep the it in place plus it's adjustable to the size of vehicle.
31. July, 13:40
Disaster|Master
That sounds a lot more Pro than my version. And I can tell why - I have found that the two taller struts on mine don't always allow me to place a body evenly, or are wrongly spaced to fit through both screens....
31. July, 23:17
Nigel Chapman
I found the idea online years ago. The wire has tendency to move when trying to get the body on it so they always end up at funny angles.
All I do then is move the spray can and /or body around to get en even coat.
You can see my stand in action in my Subaru drift van build photos and the improved
U shaped wire version in my Toyota Chaser build photos.

I wish I owned one..... To have a complete collection (not counting size/manufacturer variants), I'd need: NX-01 from 'Enterprise'; The Original Series; The Motion Picture (refit); 1701-A/B/C/D/E; (was there a model for JJ's Star Trek 2009?) JJ Into Darkness; Discovery.
An original large-scale 1701-C came up on eBay last week - a rare event - but I wasn't willing to spend £60 or more on an auction (plus I fell asleep, so it could have gone higher if I had joined in the bidding!).
Sigh - the Wishlist it is, then.

Thank you. I haven't done any panel-lines as I've not used it before and find to want to ruin what is, effectively, my first decent car. I was helped by the fact that the Tamiya kit is very well made and was incredibly easy to work with.
There are a couple of fingerprints buried beneath the gloss, but I've lept them in as a reminder to be more careful when manipulating a kit during painting and to be more patient before moving it.

OK, weird question, but - and I'm guessing this might be a longshot - is anyone using MS Edge (either based on EdgeHTML or Chromium)?
Whenever I post a link, I just get the text - clickable text, to be sure - but no actual view of the page/picture, etc. I've tried the original Edge (Edge Classic?), beta and canary - based on Chromium) (Fudgium?) - neither works for me.....
