Please update when you can. I have this kit not yet started (other than dry fitting) so I am curious to see your progress. It looks like a challenging build.

Hi, John. I'm glad you're interested in my project. 🙂
But I'm gonna disappoint you. I've had this MiG-19S (from HiPM) built for a long time. I built the model at a time when I hadn't yet photographed the model building process. I can only offer you photos of the finished model and a few memories of the build.

👍 if that is a picture of your build in the photo, it looks really good.

The picture in the project is for illustration only. I will add pictures of my finished model soon.

HiPM's MiG-19 kit is supposedly more accurate and true to the real aircraft. The kit is shortrun and more challenging to build. But with a little patience and skill it can make a nice model.

I have the Trumpeter kit as well and you are right. The rivet detail on the HiPM kit looks better. Based on dry-fitting it looks like it would be more challenging but that's ok!

I have (still in the box) both versions of the MiG-19 Trumpeter, MiG-19S and MiG-19PM. Both versions have most of the same parts, the PM version has a new fuselage. The biggest flaw in both kits is that the wings have a rounded leading edge (correctly there should be a sharp edge on the leading edge of the wing). And because of the slightly increased wing sweep, the wing span is half a cm smaller than it should be. Fixing the arrow on the wings is difficult and depends on skill, but fixing the rounded leading edge is easy and improves the model significantly.
The weakness of the PM version is the poor shape of the radar nose. It tapers too much on the model. Fortunately there is a resin repair kit with the correct shape.
