Where did you get a hold of a model kit from 1985? Very nice work so far. Following 👀.

@Jennifer Franklin
Stash from my friend. The decals were printed in 2001, prehaps a rebox of a 1985 kit

Oh, oh well, 2001, practically new then 😁. Where did your friend get it?

Looks great, awesome job on the seam smoothing!
As far as old decals are concerned, I managed to salvage a 1985 Harrier kit's decals with Microscale Industries MI-12 liquid decal film and basic Revell Decal Soft.
Both come with good manuals, although the Revell softener is not nearly as strong or damaging as the manual suggests: I have repeatedly applied it in thick droplets with no ill effects.

Nice work so far. With the Decals, just try some spares on some scrap parts or a test model. I had 30 year old decals witch workt without problems and 10 year old decals that just desintegrated when geting wet.

@Freak very constructive idea! I am trying to get some liquid film for old decals!

I see the liquid decal film helped? Looks amazing, love the look of the VF-53 livery, my most recent build was an Iron Angels F-8

@Rando thank you for your kind words, my friend. In fact I used warm air from my hair dryer to make the decals soft, I am pleased to see those arts sticked to the airframe firmly finally. Regards!

@Rando I have read your album, it is very nice. Actually I prefer 1/48 if I wanted to build something more seriously. It is pity that so many squadron has got disbanded including VF-53. I saw Hasegawa also released a 1/48 version of this very VF-53 CAG bird, I hope I can get that kit some day later and build one with more patience.
