Guy RumpThanks for looking Julian. Very different to the new Airfix kits. This was my first attempt at airbrushing so I thought I would start with an older kit. The Humbrol paints were difficult trying to get them to spray whereas the Tamiya and Vallejo paints went through the airbrush with ease. The canopy had no frame lines on it so it was pretty much guess work looking at the picture on the instructions where to position the mask pieces.

Julian Herrero aka YuriIndeed ,,, Humbrol enamels must be thinned at leats to a ratio 2 to 1 to floww properlqy thru an airbrush. Good luck with your next project.

William RumpI see what you meant about the poor quality of Humbrol paint, particularly on the underside of your model. All in all though the final result is more than satisfactory for your first attempt at airbrushing. I will guess that you will have learned new techniques and spraying abilities in your practises. Look forward to your next efforts as I am sure you will be move to being an expert airbrusher before long. Of course this will mean more expense as you improve your equipment!!! Well done Guy.

William RumpWhilst I am getting rather jealous of your progress, I advise that I have not done a lot in the modelling line over the past few months as I have been somewhat under the weather. I looked longingly at my next project (Airfix Spitfire) and have decided it is time to get on with it. So hopefully i will have some info in the near future. Keep up the good work

William RumpForgot to mention - Your canopy on this model messerschmitt is pretty good considering the shortcomings of the frame lines.

Julian Herrero aka YuriThats true William ,,,, Humbrol enamels are not the easiest paints for airbrushing ,,, looking at the pictures it seems that Guy has not thinned the paint enough and that psi was on the high side ,,,, Waiting or your next project Guy ....

Guy RumpI think you are right about thinning and the psi being too high when applying the Humbrol paint Julian, I used acrylics rather than enamels and thinned using water when I read that using thinners is no good for Humbrol acrylics. For all the grey violet and green, they both went on ok for the first coat but there were issues with both afterwards. The light blue was a problem from the outset! I think I will only use Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics for my next project which will be an old Airfix Fairey Battle. 🙂
