Nathan Dempsey Great video! Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a local shop like Wings & Wheels. I have to travel an hour to get to the nearest shop & the really good shop is a little over 2 hours away....

Bryn Crandell Have to catch this one when i get home.
7. May at 20:42:29
Olivier Great video. Just what I think. And something else they do not mention is the quest for the rare kit. That drives me also.
7. May at 20:44:58
Konrad Limmer Very nice video and thanks for sharing! I also don't have a great shop here in short distance but hey it is ok for me. I'm shopping in the internet and talking to great modellers here on this incredible platform!!
And it is also online ;)!
But its also very nice to see the work from others in real and have a good time together as well .

Rui S So true evreything that has been Said in the video and here. Thx for sharing
7. May at 22:44:17
Felipe Belalcazar cheers guys, i'm very happy you all are enjoying it! and yes Olivier - the rare find!! (I collect vinyl too so double-whammy here) I really just wanted to make something to inform non-modellers about our hobby to hopefully empower some to venture into a hobby shop or check out online for a kit, some glue and some scalemates. i just want people to know our hobby is fun and everyone should try it. cheers all! keep gluing!

Treehugger What kind of surface finish does it have?
23. April at 18:22:25
Nikolaos Kouzinis Good choice and nice work!
23. April at 18:39:28
Felipe Belalcazar thank you Nikolaos! and @Treehugger, I used Tamiya fine surface primer from the rattle can and Tamiya paints.

cheers!

Bart Goesaert Looking good, with such a dark color, did the marbling had any effect? hard to see on the pics...
3. May at 09:38:56
Holger Kranich A really good lookin´ 214. I second the question from Bart.
3. May at 09:46:45
Felipe Belalcazar Hi guys - Bart and Holger... the marbling would've worked had i not sprayed the last couple coats! I'm new to the whole marbling thing, and my reasoning was "if i marble the black and weather on top it should look like a sub on drydock) which i think i'm on to something BUT the key is getting the marbling to work... new to airbrushing so still struggling to get even coats and thin paint without it running. i would recommend anyone with more experience to try this for their boats - i feel it will help give it a subtle worn look.

cheers!

Thomas Bischoff love it! Homemade decals?
31. December 2018 at 15:01:36
Felipe Belalcazar Cheers thank you guys! Thomas, the 62 is standard usaac number decal and the rest is masked/painted. I worked hard to find references showing the stearman without cocardes (because i don't have any haha!) the 'metal' parts were primed black and the 'cloth' was primed white, then vallejo aluminium for the silver and tamiya acrylics for the rest. Engines was done in vallejo jet exhaust. Thank you! Im sad i couldnt rig it... maybe for the next one.

31. December 2018 at 14:52:56
Felipe Belalcazar Thanks! I used the set by Aztec, the cammo c2 is hasegawa (awesome kit) the gray one is italeri (terrible kit) i have a few leftover from the decal set so i'm hunting for a couple more hasegawa kits. Cheers!

Ben M Looking great!
24. December 2018 at 01:01:50
Felipe Belalcazar thank you - it was a challenge to wrap my hear around negative space to mask for the colour stripes. nevermind keeping the paint at the right thickness!
24. December 2018 at 01:04:42
Greg Baker Oh cool! I just did one of these in 1/144... so I wanna see how the big boys play! I need to find a 150 in 1/72...
24. December 2018 at 04:17:52
Ben M I'm fond of 172s because a friend let me take the controls in one once. Yes, I liked how you masked off all the stripes.
24. December 2018 at 15:32:14
Greg Baker Yeah, that masking sure isn't easy, even in 1/48 scale. They look great though!
24. December 2018 at 16:11:14
Felipe Belalcazar Thanks guys, i cant imagine doing these in 1/144 - 48scale interiors are anstruggle for me sometimes! I also have a soft spot for the skyhawk and aerobat as i did my rec and priv license courses in these :) crosswind landings in late fall on a 152 are a thrill hahaha
24. December 2018 at 18:07:28
Greg Baker Try sticking a tiny DC motor into a 1/144 Cessna... that'll be enough to give you fits! They're neat little planes though.
25. December 2018 at 00:27:47
Gordon Sørensen Great painting Felipe! What kind of tape did you use? The paint looks clean and no bleedthroughs...
25. December 2018 at 00:35:41
JOHN THOMAS Very cool
25. December 2018 at 01:25:55
Felipe Belalcazar thank you all, and thank you @Gordon, I got my airbrush back in March (the Royal Wedding weekend... when the mrs was distracted I snuck it in haha)and since then I've been using Tamiya paints thinned with their XA20. recently I've also started using AK for my primary colours - i like AK but tamiya is where its at for me. I used to use rattlecans so im very paranoid about the masking and usually I spray a thin coat of clear gloss on to the masking before doing the colours to prvent bleeding as much as possible. always learning new tricks - masking is my least favourite part (masking clear part doubly so!) the airbrush sure is a learning curve, i have yet to get an even finish with 3-4 coats.... gah!
