Spanjaard Excellent

Razvan Coman Thank you. I find this one of my best even is not spectacular as a color scheme. The kit is excellent. just the decals are a monstrosity but Humbrol DecalFix made them in something good.

Stephan Ryll Very nice result
11. February at 21:11:26
Razvan Coman Thank you guys..i`m pretty happy with the weathering results. filters were made with oil paints and some wash that went trough airbrush, chipping was done with chipping fluid on an aluminum coat. then a pin wash on panel lines.
11. February at 21:44:09
Razvan Coman i also remade the pitot tube as it was broken and straighten the forward wheel drive as in the pictures the wheel is 90 degrees on earth not angled. i should make inn the next weekend some more pictures with these modifications.

Razvan Coman Thx Dan..let me see i waited like 1 month while looking daily into the box where all the pieces were collected. Then in one nights i said"fuck it i have to repair it". so i went for a white night, slept 2 hours, annoyed the wife cause next day started to repair the painting and cover the putty that filled the holes. Then i made the base to make it better :)
07. February at 14:21:43
Spanjaard the right thing to do. otherwise you would have kept looking at it for ever, and get angry, while now you can look at it and enjoy
07. February at 14:24:42
Razvan Coman What is funny is that after i finished after a few days my 3 year son come to me in an evening with a part of the plane in hand..My heart stopped for a moment then i realized it was a part that was under the tarp and it was just found :) :)
PPS. yesterday he ripped the decals of my last project in many many pieces..have you repaired german crosses from 4 ripped parts? :))
07. February at 14:26:19
Spanjaard you can get crosses form other model or aftermarket ;)
are you going to add the missing part, or leave it like it is?
07. February at 14:46:34
Razvan Coman Leave it like this. I should find some other 3-4 parts that are missing from the nose to make it right...so is better this way
08. February at 09:41:38
Spanjaard If multiple parts are still missing, for sure. Carpet monster may have returned one but they will not probably return any more! ;)
08. February at 09:45:01
Spanjaard I may just be a trick to lure you to search for those parts again ;)
08. February at 09:46:14
Razvan Coman hahahaha....you may be right. now to finish this Me262...just realized i painted a wheelbay door in a wrong color :))

Razvan Coman Dryfitting time...a few gaps betwen fuselage and wings nit too bad. Engine cowling fits nicely but engine need to be glued carefully in the right position.

Strange kit in some engineering decisions. But fits better than my last Tamiya kit. Details are worse.

I should make the drive train then paint the cockpit.

Razvan Coman As in title, during photo session i touched the photo equipment. It felled over plane and broke it to pieces.

James C Sorry to hear that mate and hopefully you can salvage it. From the finished pictures posted it looks very good.
06. September 2017 at 21:28:25
Greg Baker Oh, man. I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me. I scratchbuilt a small 1/72 mini dio with a bicycle and during the photo shoot... before I took even one picture... the backdrop tipped over and smashed the whole thing into a jumble of parts. I was able to reassemble it... but it was time consuming and painful. ;)
07. September 2017 at 00:28:02
Erik Leijdens That s*cks Razvan! Hope you will be able to repair it. And if not, at least you still have the photo's ;) Great looking Wulf !

Spanjaard excellent war weary FW, i hope you can fix the accident.
07. September 2017 at 23:18:06
Robbie What? no gory plastic pic's ? That is ok. 20 or so years ago, my two young kids got into my collection of actually finished kits and trashed them thinking they work just like their toys across shag carpet. Needless to say most of what was salvaged ended up in the now large 'spare parts box/bin'. Now I can say as I read about builds when the builder references he/she/it added something from the parts bin, I can cringe and figure I might be able to copy what he/she/it did. I feel your pain :(

Razvan Coman Weekend work is done. Have to assembly and glue rest of parts and paint the small parts. Next weekend maybe ill go paint the rest of the plane.

Was surprised to see nit a very good fit between the main body parts. Needed some sanding and filling.

03. September 2017 at 02:16:04
Razvan Coman This kit is such surprise. So many good things ruined by a few bad things which are important. For example the fuselage has guiding pins so u can glue it easy. But it you use those it is misaligned by half of mm. The markings are all over the place (i used the Hans Hahn ones). Thr number is from fw190 a2. The kill markings from his fw190a4. Upper crosses also from his A4. I could had used the A3 upper crisses (black and white not only white) . Instructions never tell you what to use on wings correctly historically. Canopy also gets misaligned with center of fuselage. Such a dissapointment in quality and gread design.
04. September 2017 at 05:15:50
Razvan Coman Also no zwastikas in decal set even instructions have them with a number same with other small decals cause pollitically correct is more important...

This industry suffer by a lack of real reviews the obes made by someone who buikt that kit and think lime a beginner. Not by so.eone who just photo the contents or thong filling cm of gaps is modelling

Alexander G. I find your 'painting first and then glueing the fuselage halves' approach odd, but the result is truly great!
20. August 2017 at 15:48:54
Razvan Coman Alexander, Was just a test to see if i can do it ok. Somehow i managed to actually do the camouflage scheme ok without any breakdowns between colors. Tbh is better to paint it after glued (just because if is not a good fit you need to fill cavities so you'll ruin paintjob).
But i was impressed with the quality of this very very very cheap kit. Almost no filling required, details are crisp, plastic is not fiddly, it was fun.
And is a memory from Malta bought form War Museum. So it will stay in my cabinet proudly
