Roden's 1:72 Fairchild AC123

I managed to get this kit for cleap, and I intend to use the one nose part that isn't used, to create a plain "civilian" silvery version, with little to no markings.

Approximate kit model width: ca 48 cm betwen wing tips
Approximate kit model length: ca 32 cm

The kit build manual suggest 20g nose weight, but I can only fit 12g in the nose, so.. I thought, I could use add a mystery box in the cargo hold, containing weight, in the cargo room just behind the cockpit. 🙂

I will consider try creating a stressed metal effect, then airbrush on Vallejo glossy black (for metals) and airbrush on some metal colors.

Would be fun to try add some figures in the pilot seats, not sure how to do that, as the kit doesn't come with any figures.

Hm, according to Wikipedia, the AC-123K had two jet pods, so I guess that would be the two thingies under the wing. I thought at first these were camera/surveillance equipment or something like that.

The two large fuselage parts probably require find sanding, because the plastic surface seems rough.

I will probably add rivets, which could be fun, and would be fairly trivial I think.

Hrm, this is tedious, waiting so long for each application of gloss coat to harden, before adding more. I have an IKEA D...

Just a quick comment. I found that if I really need 20g nose weight as suggested in the build manual, there is no space in the nose for that I found, only being able to fit 12g inside the nose. It occurred to me that I could place a mystery box, with nose weight, in the cargo room just behind the cockpit. 🙂 So with 12g in the nose, and say 15-20g behind the cockpit, maybe that would work. Hopefully the platic gear can handle this weight.

As with most of my projects these days, I do a little on each and hopefully they get finished over time, so no focused work on this.
