Mini Hobby's Mi-24D Hind attack helicopter in 1:48 scale

Scale:
1:48

In progress

I intend to try shape up this so so kit, however I think the kit parts overall looks totally ok.

The fun part is trying to find way to improve the kit which I bought for cheap on eBay recently.

This kit, like other kits in 1:48 and 1:35, does afaik not have the correct body shape, as the correct shape have the two fuselage parts not being symmetrical, because the heli body is twisted iirc because of achieving stability in flight I think I read at some point.

I will probably buy some aftermarket rocket pods and maybe some photo etch if I can ever find any. Seems like the PE sets for this kit sold out. Eduard's interior PE set would have nice, but nobody is selling it from what I can see.

Update:
1) I found some photo etch set for this Mini Hobby kit, for exterior, nice. 🙂
2) I will try get some seemingly hard to get resin parts from Belarus. Found one with two rockets on eBay but I want two, for a total of four rocket pods.

Hm. As I start cleaning up the wings for the Mi-24 model, I notice that the wings are probably shaped wrong, in that the leading edge goes straight out from the fuselage, while reference data seem to show the leading edge sweeping backwards, maybe as much as the rear edge sweeping forwards.

I can correct this, but I will have to use plenty of putty, and also probably saw off the end of the wing, and re attach it, and also re-make the pylon points under the wings which should be easy enough.
