Thank you mates! I'm going to take the final presentation photos in the coming days. These should give a more detailed presentation of the finished model.

Ahaha I thought Quantas only flew A380's. 😄

Lovely, at first (pic #15) I actually thought it's BPK kit in 1/72 👍

Thank you Łukasz. 👍 You made me happy with that comparison to BPK kit in 1/72. 😊

Looks great from every angle. Window decals are a cool invention indeed, and the base is a perfect match. Congrats!

That is just crazy. What beautiful work. 1/200 scale-man! The finish is absolutely stunning. If you put this against a photo backdrop you would have a hard time telling it from the real thing. Cheers from Australia.

Beautiful plane, beautiful livery, beautiful model. The Authentic Airliner Decals do add a lot to the realustic look.

Thank you gentlemen for your gratifying comments. And Michael, those decals from Authentic Airliner Decals are awesome. It's just a shame they don't have as wide a selection in 1/200 scale as they do in 1/144.

Q: After airbrushing on a clear coat, over the masked areas, do you cut around the masking tape, or do you just rip them off?

Treehugger, I'm not sure how to understand your question. When I airbrush a clear coat, I don't usually use masking tape. That's what I use when airbrush paint. On the other hand, it is true that I do use masking tape in some cases with a clear coat airbrush. For example with the metal rings at the air inlet of the engine. But usually I try to airbrush surfaces that need to be free of clear coat (some metals or matte surfaces) last.

Album info

Hi everyone,

After two years I finished another model. It is Boeing 737-838 Qantas, delivered to the company on 8.7.2004 and named "Narooma". Built in the livery from the time of delivery to Qantas and including the "eyebrows" (upper windows above the cockpit) which were later removed on all aircraft in this series. The kit is by Hasegawa in 1/200 scale. The livery is by Draw Decal, the windows and cockpit by Authentic Airliner Decals (thank goodness they make windows in 1/200 too), the doors and some details by Avigraphics. Gunze C and Alclad II paints. On the leading edge between the fuselage and the engines I have experimented with the "metallic finish" decal from Authentic Airliner Decals and I am very pleasantly surprised.
