Since this was a prototype which was never used on the field, and if not mistaken not even got out of the factory, I built it in a totally different scenario. I do not want to invade this post with my links, but if anyone would like to see my version, check in my albums.

Yeah this is more of a "what if" and styled like the cool but unrealistic box art.

There are some things in this kit which were not made as the real thing, I had to make deep research on this tank to find out about some facts and what metals were used especially in making the turret. The turret in the kit has some minor but very evident mistakes. I ended up contacting people who worked in tank factories in the 60's (even though this is a tank of the '45 ) but I managed to get some good information about it.

the kit is made with the turret entirely made of cast steel (texture), when in fact the top plates where hot rolled steel welded to the cast steel shell, welding was stainless steel, so even after long time it had to remain shiny or mostly silvery and non rusty.
To be honest looking back on the photos I took while constructing, that was the major flaw of this model, other that that it was a really good one. The only other thing I had to replace was the side turret rack which I found it was a bit thick in plastic, so I made it in metal.

Ottovon, don't forget that this tank was a prototype and never used in the field, so any of the paint schemes on the instruction sheet and on the box art were not real (on this tank).

Very cool "aggressor" camo, this adds at least +3 initiative and +10 critical hit chance on the MiG-21's performance...
Looking forward to the sonic boom across the finish line!

That really looks awesome! I can't get over how striking that scheme is, and you have done it justice.

Great looking MiG-21. I agree that it looks great in that scheme and you have done a beautiful job of replicating it.

Looking great Nathan and I like the tarnished metal finish that you've achieved.

Thanks for the kind words all! Lots of bits and bobs to go. I think the landing gear and weapons will be as much work as the whole kit thus far! It's not perfect, I botched the placement of the white crosses on the rear stabilizers, following the decal sheet and not the reference photos I found, which had the lower crosses and identification number higher than HB's drawings. Otherwise it's been fun!

What a suberb finish, your painting is very impressive. Have to get used to the two seater look for the A-10

Good to see this old one still getting a run, watching it for inspiration to build mine, she is a mean looking tank.
