Through the generosity and kindness of a genuine Vickers Viscount collector I was able to acquire this extremely rare 1959 Faller kit which is complete and in mint condition. The box, sadly, has had a little wear from being stored for so many years.
I wanted to create one of the 800 series Royal Australian Air Force Viscounts. This was to be part of my ongoing project of building every RAAF aircraft I flew on when I was in the Service. I purchased 2 Glencoe 1/96 Viscounts with an idea of chopping one to use the parts to complete an accurate RAAF Viscount, but that turned out to be way beyond my skill level. Besides, I've been trying to make this entire collection in 1/48 scale for uniformity. As far as I know no company has ever tooled up for a 1/48 800 Viscount so I've decided to, regretfully, leave the wonderful Viscount out of my collection.
I'm on a Service pension now as I'm getting on, so i need more funds to complete my special project.
I was wondering if anyone would like to make me an offer for this rare, 61-year old, Faller kit. It is in the livery of Lufthansa and the box art depicts Tempelhof airport in the background, I think. The original Lufthansa decals are intact, as is the rest of the kit, although the decal has slightly 'yellowed' with age. An enthusiast with computer skills could easily reproduce the original decal and 'Photoshop' it to produce a new decal on a blank decal sheet for a perfectly good-looking finish. The kind gentleman who sold me this kit added a new RAAf decal sheet. (The RAAF celebrates its 100th birthday in 2021, hence my urgency to raise funds to complete my RAAF project).
Anyone who might like to purchase this kit from me can contact me at HalliwellMedia@southernphone.com.au
Get in touch any time and we can 'haggle' in a friendly way to a price that suits both of us. To sweeten the deal, I'll pack up the kit so that it will not be damaged in transit and if you live in a far-off land to Australia, I'll kick in for half the cost of registered postage to you.
I have several other excellent military kits that are not RAAF kites and I'll gladly send you a list of my stash, if you can't access it on-line to see if anyone else can help me out to finance my RAAF kit project.
I've never sold a kit before (always purchased) so I promise I'll try to give anyone that is interested as good a deal as i can.
You can contact me at the email address, above. A PM might take a while to get to me as I can't check Scalemates as often as I can.
Thank you for getting through this long, rambling message.
All the best to my fellow members.
