Nice progress Ville, what colours are you using for the scheme? The finish colour scheme is a nice one to do. One day I will get my 1/72 kit done.

Topside colours are tamiya nato green xf-67 and humbrol 10 for the brown. The shades of the migs varied between airframes on the topsides.Bottom is humbrol 129. Maybe not excat shades, but looks nice.To my eyes at least.

Do you use the finish markings on this fishbed? Suomi perkele!!!😢
8 October 2013, 13:25
Ville Siltanen
Yes.The ones that are included.Nice finnish by the way 🙂. Where did you learn that?

That kit went straight on my wishlist!
Suomi on suuri maa!😢 The mother of my best friend is from Finland she always gave me a cup of chocolate and then she begun to tell storys from her former home. Thats how i begun to be interested in Finland and i learned not much, but a bit, the language.

I know a few Finnish words I picked up from my mother and father, some are not for this forum though 🙂
Being of Finnish descent I should know more than a few words but being far removed from the 'homeland' I have lost the ability to read and speak the language.
Kittos! 😄

And is it possible that you wanted to say "Kiitos"?😢
9 October 2013, 07:17
Ville Siltanen
I believe kiitos was word he was trying to say.Close enough 🙂.
9 October 2013, 07:21
Holger Kranich

I made a typo, my parents were from Finland and emigrated to Australia before I was born. I regret not learning the language better. As you can see my command of it is not very good.

What i have heard it´s very difficult language to learn. But anyway it´s nice see that you still know even some words.Just keep it up 🙂.

Ah, thats why your familyname is Seppala! I thought to myself that its not a typical australian name😢!

I suspect the 'typical Australian name' is much the same as the 'typical Canadian name'... Huovinen or Sobchuk or Kannegiesser or Leung are just as typical as Smith or MacDonald - just so long as there's an English first name to go with it.😉

I am wondering where you did get huovinen? But still finns seems get every where😉. Back to mig tomorrow i start decalling.

I used to know someone with that name, Canadian born and raised... there are towns (villages) here like "Suomi" in Ontario and "Sointula" here in BC, to mention only a few, and places like "Finn Slough" that were also settled by Finns way back when...

Hi guys, being myself a Finn (though emigrated to Belgium), I find it very interesting to read your conversation!
Ray, I guess your parents lastname while they lived in Finland was "Seppälä". In other words the last two a🤔 had those double dots on them, but of course those "ä" letters does not exist in English.
And yes, you find an ancestor to a Finn everywhere... 🙂
11 October 2013, 09:53
Ville Siltanen
Yep.that suprises me everytime. Not so bad for the such small nation. Our ancestors have spread like disease😉.
11 October 2013, 11:19
Ray Seppala
Hei Kari, you are correct. My father dropped the ä from our name because Aussies did not know what it meant. He and my mother also became Australian citizens at teh time and thought it was the right thing to do.
