I've been thinking about buying and building that MiG kit, although I would do it in Chinese markings... I definitely would like to know how well the kit will build up. 🙂

the youtube clip doesn't work for me 🙁

is it a documentary or a kit review ?
Never knew that these two planes went up against each other.

click on the link "Youtube Video" It's a part of a bigest Series with dogfight animations and pilot interviews from various Air Conflitcs! This is from middle east.

🙂 Seems there is a problem with the embedded video. Thanks for the comments.

The dogfight videos are always awesome to watch, although their 3D animations could use a little more realism at times 😄

hehe they are not pilots just 3d animators, btw the plane designs are very good though

Yes but believe it or not, a 3D programmer has to be a crack shot at physics and such, because a lot of animations need that to have a realistic rendition 🙂 Same thing goes for game programmers. It is really one of the key elements of being a good programmer/3D animator.

er, I can tell you that is something of an assumption, especially for games programmers as they tend to use a bag of tricks to affect their illusions of reality and quite often a simplistic set of physical assumptions are made for a lot of video games etc. same is very true for a lot of 3D animations, only the very best will use actual proper physics engines such as those used in high end finite element analysis, fluid dynamics and the very best of movie animators and even then it is not a guaranteed aspect.

Most of the "physics" you see in animations such as these are to do with collisions, hit box checking, particle animations etc. the actual flying parts for a lot of these CG anims will be done by an "artist"-3D animator by "hand" based on what looks right to them as they understand which is why so many are flawed lack that certain, final realism.

I say this with over 25 years within the CG animation/ games industry. Things have improved over the years but never the less programmed physics engines are an approximate description of reality 🙂
