An IRIAF Tomcat is on my to-do- list, but I don't have the right decals. I even got the squadron "F-14A in Iranian service" book!

Had a quick look in my Osprey book about Iranian Tomcats. Yes they where A´s and after the Shah retreated, all upgrade packs for becoming B´s was not send to Iran.

Thx for your informations,mates!
I did learning some lessons about the F-14 types, couple of minutes ago with a pot of hot an black coffe!
Now I can say, this must be early type A`s! This type is equipped with retractable wing glove vanes. These canards were deactivated and locked shut on the A and completely deleted on B and D.

A nice close up picture is the poster, picture No.4. There you can see them directly beside the air intakes in the leading edge of the wing.

Exactly Michael, Iranian F-14s have the record of longest insant flight due to being used as AWACSs.11:36 refueled several times a flight. So Iraqi pilots mostly did blind bombing and returen home as soon as they could.

I bet most people don't know that Grumman and McDonnell Douglas Had a serious competition to sell their F-14s or F-15s to iran. It was vital for Grumman to sell its Tomcats because of the lack of budget. And finally they win it! If Iran hadn't bought F-14, it may be remain as a prototype!I'm so happy that this bird came to reality! 🙂

after first Overhaul of iriaf tomcats change the
camouflage to blue and gray and upgrade some ability like body refuelling, drop guided bomb, firing
russian air to air missile and became to A+.

These pics rock!!! An IRIAF F-14A its in my top-5 todo list. And I had in mind of the Russian ordnance certification, but I nee to get info of which missiles are certified. The ICM Air-to-X ordnance kits are gonna look awesome on the Academy F-14A kit I have in stock!!!
Btw, any reference of the new grey-blue scheme? Either in Tamiya or Gunze would be nice 🙂
Cheers

Sebastjian and Vorya, thanks a lot. As for the Hawk SAM, when I saw the pic of an F-14 loaded with it, at first I though it was photoshop. Who was crazy enough do try something like this. Saying that as I spent months of my military service in one of the Hawk Batteries in Greece.
🙂
