Aha a Yak-3. 🙂
I'm curious for the end result.

Well, the current result is shite! Sometimes I hate my Airbrush!

I haven*t uploaded the pictures of the Disaster.
It was useless apply the light grey beacuse my gun was spitting so much that almost every inch of the wing was dark grey. Result: I painted the wings dark grey and have to repaint it in light grey.

And I can't do thin lines or a preshading. If I try it it looks like a 2mm wide wall.

I have the same issues and a deep cleaning only helps a bit....I bought a new needle and nozzle....still have to try it to see if it works though ....

Duncan Cook
I'm using a Triplex I.

Wim van der Luijt
YouTube has video on cleaning it....bu I'm sure you've tried that already....I bought a cheap ultrasonic cleaner at Lidl and using that helps....

What do you do if you can't sleep?
Right, celaning your Airbrush.
I've put it in some Dowanol, a very strong alcohol and let the magic liquid do its work.
And then I cleaned every part with and guess what? Right, There were much traces of old paint. Tomorow I will test it.

cool a Yak 3

but the Tema Spraying the blow dry, or lines, thin as a stick

I Lacquer only Gunze and Akan color, rarely Model Master and Alclad
for Gunze and Akan color I have a basic rule
Dilute well, 3 or more parts thinner to one part paint
too little thinner you can see very quickly that spraying is to see good bar with a pressure greater than 1.0, then slowly increase simply dilution

WHILE it comes to spraying the brushens, it is often dry paint in the nozzle
it can also be the channel from the cup to the nozzle have slight dust

I clean the gun very little (for model I have the Revell Master class)
Wipe the cup after some isopropanol and blow dry with a towel

when to use the next time the needle stuck, somewhat crude thinner in the cup
you then spraying the thinner, I divide all

otherwise, I'm lazy like 😉

The one I got at Lidl was only ?25,- or so...Lidl and Aldi both have these every now and then
13 August 2013, 06:35
Michel Huijghe
An ultrasonic cleaner from Aldi or Lidl????
13 August 2013, 06:52
Wim van der Luijt
yep!
13 August 2013, 06:58
Michel Huijghe
Strange. Never saw that.

sure are very useful ultrasonic cleaner equipment
But I would gather dust
I clean with 60% ethyl acetate from a pharmacy and Universal Thinner
the gun survived for 5 years
I'm just lazy like 😉
my paint knows her

Michel Huijghe
Be aware when using an ultracleaner only to use the forward part of your airbrush and don't put the whole airbrush in the cleaning tank! This is because the aft part has been oiled by the manufacturer and it could trill the oil out of the aft part.

Hi Michel, My Gun is probably oil free
I have applied in the years never fat or oil
but only revell
my IWATA gets more care
but there I also work with other colors, and other materials

If you look around you can get them cheap and they're a great way to clean your AB!

Wim van der Luijt
and you can them at an angle for those hard to reach places like the bottom of the caup where it feeds into the needle

GOOOOOOOO Duncan....now finish that Yak!
13 August 2013, 15:30
Duncan Cook
Yes Sir! 🙂

Duncan, in case just be careful with Dowanol in an ultrasonic cleaner...the fumes will dissolve the paint on the inside of the cleaner's lid as well. Been there, done that... 🙂

What also works great for cleaning is flushing the nozzle with solvent pumped through a hypedermic needle (sharp end appropriately filed blunt, of course)

The little colored interdental cleaners that Wim posted work great as well.

@Jens
Every airbrush has some grease or oil. 🙂
13 August 2013, 17:37
Duncan Cook
And it's not working propperly again.
It's spitting.
13 August 2013, 17:48
Burkhard D
Paint consistency right? More thinner maybe? Thinner compatible with paint?
More pressure maybe?
Nozzle properly tightened?
All the washers in the right place? Air leak somewhere? See bubbles in the paint reservoir?
13 August 2013, 17:52
Duncan Cook
No bubbles, I use water for Vallejo paint, nozzle is ok.
Well I wanted to buy a new head for the gun but I don't have the money now.
Next month maybe.
13 August 2013, 17:58
Michel Huijghe
Problem is located not in the nozzle but further in the airbrush where the paint bottle comes in. Also Vallejo can dry fast so a retarder is needed.
13 August 2013, 18:04
Burkhard D
I have no experience with Vallejo paint, but not all nozzles do cope well with acrylic colors. Is the tip of the needle bent? That would likely produce sputter as well.
13 August 2013, 18:05
Duncan Cook
Let's see how the gun beahves with some new parts.
