Hi Duncan.........the delphin is a lovely model by the way and cant wait to see it done. I never meant anything about the putty you know............it was only an idea and the sort of filler I used for many years. I looked in my decals but found no georgian markings. I have 60% of Microscale decals. If you need anything I`ll be glad to send it to you by mail as I have just posted before that all modellers should be friends, exchange ideas and make the best for our hobby that REALLY keeps our mind off trouble Best of luck Duncan.

Bad mews: today i put the lead in to postion. I used some Putty for fixing it. But later i noticed that the pastic got soft at the nose section with a toothpick i can push a hole in it. NOw I can oly pray that it gets hard again. Then I had to putty some downfalls up.
🙁

Never use putty for weighrt..............use plasticine. Putty effects polysteryne............did i spell it right? maybe 5 days ago i chatted with a member about a friend of mine many years ago who was trying to balance the matchbox p38 and he put lead and used putty and the next day the guns of the lightning can only shoot at ground targets while flying level. Take my word and use plasticine and a some uhu glue. put a little uhu and then the plasticine and then a little of uhu and put the lead on the uhu and press. once it is in put a little of uhu and then a little piece of plasticine to keep the lead from losing fit. to remedy the problem try to remove the putty. once 90% of has been removed it will dry. it will dry faster than the plastic. then put cotton moisted in cold waterin the two parts of the fuselage until both sides touch...............remember you should feel the cotton being pushed while putting the two halves together. wrap it up with clear tape..............keep away from the soft parts and then slowly try to adjust the contours with wet fingers so that your fingers do not stick.
it needs a little of patience. once it is done put it in the fridge for six hours or so. Good luck

you can even skip uhu glue completely. just plasticine

Hey Cookoie, looks cool with the oranges wingtips! And Sherif is right, never use Putty as noseweight, i have a bad experiance with that...

NOw it has to get hard again. I need to wait. Thank your for the informations.

I'm afraid it will take a looong time to get hard and will shrink unevenly in the process. Been there, done that 🙁
I agree with Sherif that plasticine works well. If you use plasticine make sure it is free of oil. I had once oil oozing out from a radome which then messed up the paint. If possible, I close ballast compartments off with bulkheads made from sheet styrene and glue them in with normal styrene glue, so that in case the plasticine+ballast package is coming loose it cannot start rattling around inside the kit.
Just stay away from using large amounts of any stuff that contains solvents that react with plastic

The nose looks like a nose again. But the engravings are gone. How can i reconstuct positive engravings? do you have a idea how I can do it?
20 May 2012, 20:33
Wilfried Bogaerts
How about sanding down everything but the positive engravings?

Nonono sorry, just a joke, couldn't resist 😉

Are you familiar with Archer transfers? They do a series of raised decals from resin and they also have panel lines. Maybe it's too big for 72nd scale and I don't know if it will follow thight curves without cracking but it's just an idea ?

Hi WIlfried thanks for the tip
But If I see the Price I get a herat attack.
I think I can do it myself.

Yes, it's not cheap..

You may use stretched sprue and liquid glue to restore raised panel lines. Place sprue where you want the panel line to be and then 'flood' with liquid glue. Don't touch until dry. Best to practice that on a scrap piece of plastic first 😉

The Delfin is not forgotten. I started to remove the, how do I call it? These strange plastic planks. Thanks to my Pediküre-Set Fromm Rossman it's not so difficult. I also reciewv a couple of resin ejection seats.
