Why are 3d printed elements tilted? Does the tilted positino during 3d printing, lead to cleaner edges perhaps?

Coming somewhat late to the party, but at least I made it - some excellent stuff on show! The exterior details & weathering look great & I really like the way you took care about the wing root gap - an issue that seems to occur on more than a couple of the available Tomcat kits

Thanks folks, glad you like it! :) Treehugger, inclined parts usually lead to more crisp detail indeed.

Progress is slow, but there is progress... sanding and filling take a lot of time. But with the tail fin fitted, it finally starts to look like an aircraft.

Fotos 13-17: was ist da passiert Ben?

I use simple two-component automotive body filler, followed by automotive spray primer to smoothen the surface. A lot of sanding is involved as well!

Wow, every photo shows a work of art in its own right, so much detail. You wouldn't expect this level from any kit let alone scratch built. You are very courageous to attempt it, very patient to complete it and very talented to do so convincingly. This is true modelling at its best. I salute you.

Thank you all for your kind comments!

@Cedric, the canopies are 3D printed.

@Spanjaard: I have planned to bring my Viking and the RF-8 both of which will be on the contest table. I did not register the Prowler. I may bring it with me, maybe I'll decide to register it on Saturday. I have no table, so the contest is the only possibility for me to display models in Veldhoven.
