Rusted Plate - Paint Experiment

Album image #1
Rusted Plate Painting Experiment... Dark grey base colour... Chipped light blue grey... More blue then grey that is... Then chipped old rust... Chipped Light Rust then chipped Orange Rust... Each layer was varnished with VMS Satin... 2 x AK Heavy chipping fluid under each colour...

Album image #2
Rusted Plate Painting Experiment...What was learnt... Each rust layer should be less than is predecessor... Orange rust needs to be localised to specific areas... Scrub the light blue to show more of the dark grey at thr end of the process... Patchy looks good... Don't go for uniformity... Think about thr placement of the rust tones on the... The more exposed a region is the lighter the tone... Heavier scars in the blue gives a sense of age to the plate...Dark grey showing through the finish gives a sense of polished wear over the rusted area... Satin increases the polished wear effect...
