I purchased this kit in about 1975-6. Moved from New York to North Carolina in 1979. Life for various reasons got in the way and I did not do any modeling for about 30 years. All the while this kit was in my stash, packed in boxes stored under the house. Finally I retired and built a model room. I re-discovered this kit a couple of months ago and decided it was about time. I decided to make it in flight. As it had very little in the landing gear area. Also, I have gravitated to doing more inflight builds anyway. Birds belong in the air, right? The base is an oval piece of hardwood I cut out in the workshop, routed a roman ogee edge for decoration. The artwork in the center is reputed to be the flag of the Soviet Air Force. I don't know if that's true for sure but, it was on a copyright free site and it looked good so I copied it down trimmed it to an oval in Inkscape and glued it and coated it with several coats of modpodge.
