Humbrol Gloss Coat - bit thick but gives a much better shine than Vallejo Spray, did try using the airbrush with thinned down coat but the shine was not bright enough for me so brush coated in the end

Discovered that the exhaust was broken on opening and have lost the piece - will attempt to fix using builders silicone mould method. The engine block requires chrome pieces which will be fitted after painting.

Rebuilt the piping and added to chassis. Added some extra sprue goo to strength the join tried to thin on location as I could not smooth down by filling the excess goo.

Testing some pinks - I have seen a variety of colours when googling images for pink Cadillacs but feel a more muted tone (like the one on the right) would work better than a hot fluorescent pink for the 50s image.

Indeed it would, it would no doubt light up the sky like a comet if launched into space!

Oh myy. Can't wait to see how this turns out. That big body is a lot of pink.

Thanks Guys 😁 what do you think, should I go with that one on the right? I am thinking about playing some more with the flo-pink. Will upload some more photos for thoughts when next get the time to do some testing.

Haha your right Marvel, should have said the colour on the spoon 😂

For me personally neither colour make me happy - but whatever you choose: I am in 👍

So with a little play on the colours, I now have a Bubble Gum Pink using 2-1 fluorescent to white and Baby pink using 2-1-1 Flo Pink, White, Rosa. Bubble Gum on left spoon and Baby on Right of Photo 5. What do we reckon?

The colour in the fotos might be misleading - what with pic 8 or right spoon in pic 7?
In pic 5 I d go for Bubble Gum pink 😊

Thanks Thomas 😉 Picture 5 is taken in a LightBox so does create a more vibrant result! As you mentioned colour can be very subjective due to light conditions, those on the tabletop - I think might give a slightly better representation. Picture 7 Showing Baby on the Left and Bubblegum on the right just to confuse things 😛

I don't know. Fluoro pink may be hard to look at with that big Cadillac but it's also kind of cool that it's so bright. 😀

Gotta love Google... hdpaintcode.com/cadillac/
Looks like both colours are too bright to be authentic, what to do? 🤔

the paint charts may also be faded - google found me these sites
paintref.com/paintre../pink_Cadillac.shtml
uniquecarsandparts.c..swatch_cadillac_1957
and comparing the "Mountain Laurel" indicate some freedom in your choice 🙂
... I still would go for "bubble gum" and leave historic accuracy to the rivet counters

Thanks Kyle 🙂

I chose to keep the kit vanilla in build, only adding extra matting to the carpet area using some base materials. I was unsure if to use the chrome stickers and considered painting the required areas instead, but glad I stuck to the provided 'decals'.

Was an enjoyable build and not taxing.

At this point, I should say thanks to my wife who got it imported from America for my 40th BDay, after I had been coveting it online for months!

I like the pink you went with too! Looks like the perfect pink Cadillac pink to me.
