Wellington MK III

Just a placeholder because as you can see I’m further on than these photos suggest. Albeit on hold while I wait for a new nose turret canopy.

My first go at mocking up some wood panels. Used NATO Brown and then dry brushed though some burnt umber oils. Tried to gouge it up a bit to show scuffs.

Loved this little assembly job. Had to do it twice, as the first version got lost to the carpet monster. No one is owning up at home though.

Had to start again. Much better for me. Not as Sandy brown as the gloss is making it look.

One half of the fuselage innards. Went a bit rogue on the linen red dope- too pinky-orange, but cest la vie. Have to say, so far this kit is going together like a dream. Not sure of Trumpeters reputation but this is fabulous and the detail on the parts is great and almost no flash whatsoever on the kit. A couple of unfortunate sink marks on the room divider panels was all so far.

Close up before I button up.

Fuselage halves side by side.

Some preshading. My lines are getting a bit better. Also a bit of filler along the seam. Can’t blame the kit because it’s been fantastic, so all down to me I suspect.

Vallejo Dark Earth under the masking with Vallejos Dark Green still needing a couple of coats. Made an error on the brown trying to use negative mask for the green But they weren’t accurate enough and so haVe had to resort to the blue tack and mask fluid for the green. Hopefully the edges of the two will blend ok.

Bit of panel washing using AK panel liners.

Hey, that's a great start!, I thought it was "The 'fix" one for a second-similarly detailed, that I've previously built. My Trumpeter 72nd experience is their Tu-128 which went together great, albeit with some sloppy inaccuracies [that others pointed out to me, so I'd have been none the wiser]

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys. @Andy I'll have a look in your albums and take a look at your Wellington for tips 👍 @Erik thanks- I see you have a P.11c in your albums which was a Heller kit. I've just finished an Arma Hobby version which was lovely but a bit fiddly for my reintroduction to hobby. I've not detailed the build but have few snaps to put up soon.

Not checked in on you for a while, this is looking great! Are you going to lighten the tops of the fabric over the geodesic structure too? Trumpeter seems to serve up some mean panel structures...

Thanks all for your views, likes and comments. I'm almost there, final pics to follow. @Andy- I may well do a bit of dry brushing over top. I have to say this has been a lovely little kit any imperfections are inevitably mine. The only frustration was (a) no open bomb bay option, (b) the fuselage windows weren't particularly well fitting.
