Slow but steady progress. I started by cutting the two halves of the fuselage from the vacuformed parts. Then I deepened the panel lines and cut the holes for front headlamps and vent holes. I also cut the left side door as I want to make it easier to see inside the helicopter in the end.
I used the original cockpit parts from the kit only as a bases for a lot of scratch building. I sanded off the floor, separated the seats, changed the shape of instrument panels, made a fire extinguisher, flight book, seat belts, collectives and navigation unit. The curved rear wall turned out to be quite a challenge, as the original part in the kit was completely flat. But now I thinks it looks much better and true to the original Robinson interior (even compared to the resin part from the Pavla Nr. 72071 kit). The only thing left to scratch built in the cockpit is the cyclic.

Album info

Robinson R-22 in service of Slovak flying school - ATO. This is PAVLA's older plastic model of the helicopter so it will be quite challenging but I was not able to find the full resin kit. I will also try to make my first custom decals.
