Thanks guys. There will be a little delay while I wait for the Quickboost canopy retractor to get here, but just a short one. I'll probably start paint on the rest of the plane until that comes though.

So, I looked at the Quickboost photo. Isn't that the Yankee extraction system? Instead of a "canopy retractor" The Yankee Extractor is essentially a rocket that grabbed the pilot and blasted him up and out through the canopy,,,,,,,,such as "deploy and then fire" right through there.

One of those "okay, it will save my life,,,,,,but, let's not do any practice runs with it" lol

Thanks, James!

Rex, I've always read that it was just a boot that covered the canopy retractor. I know early models didn't have it, but all of the later single seat versions that I've seen did. It may have been part of the Yankee, which would explain why it was on the later versions. And it's definitely something I wouldn't want to test.

Well, it looks just like the Stanley Aviation drawings of the Yankee Extractor on page 62 of the Warbird Tech book, and page 166 of the first Ginter Skyraider book.

Just looked at my Wardbird Tech book and I guess you're right. Don't know how I missed that before.

Shrug,,,,,,I miss stuff all of the time. If you have a minute, look in the very back of that book. I searched for YEARS for that pod for one of my RF-4B models. It turned out that I have had a drawing suitable for scratch building one that whole time. Just make one, then modify the nose and make another, and we can have the two versions that were carried together for an RF-4B

I also missed the fact that FS595C is NOT the current version,,,,,,it is back to 595A again, as issued by the SAE. (they took over from the GSA)
