Don't you just love all them track links (not).Personally I'd rather have the vinyl DS tracks. I tend to be a painting man as to a building man. What kit are you building Jan.

It's the Dragon Operation Cobra version of the Sherman. The mold and fit of the kit are excellent so the cleaning up was OK. But like you, I like to start splashing paint on asap as you can see in the picture. The other Dragon kits I have have either DS or Magic tracks. So that should be less of a pita🙂

Completed after enduring the nightmare of the tracks. The instructions said 78 links a side. After fiddling around for ages trying to fit the tracks on, I added 2 links...problem solved.

Nice looking Sherman Jan. I fancy that kit myself, but might have to source some DS tracks🙂 Have you got the 1/35 armour bug?

Thanks Martyn. I must say I quite enjoyed the build and am happy with the result of this kit. Although I definately need some practice on the different weathering techniques. I'm jealous of the results some of you more seasoned modelers pull off. But there will most certainly be more 1:35 builds in the foreseable future. I've got a few nice kits in my stash 🙂

Hunter, I used Vallejo pigments for the mud and pigment fix to make it stick. I suppose you could use white glue as well.

I've gotten used to the individual track links....I only clean up that which will be seen.....really nice paint job! is the tarp scratch? 👍

Thanks James. And thanks for the tip. The tarp is not scratch made but a resin piece from a PlusModel bag set. There's 8 different pieces in there so enough for a few models.

Album info

My first 1:35 scale armor build EVER. Finshed cleaning up 160 tracklinks and 324 connection pins. Completed the first track in about 3 hours. Hope the second goes quicker. This is taking longer than I anticipated. Now I know why people revert to after market tracks;)
