What a great subject! Don't see too many Barracudas in the modelling forums. Nice job - what did you use for the FAA colors?

Hi Lionel, nice Barracuda you have there and I agree with Bill that you seldom see this subject. the painting is superb.

Thanks for your kind comments.

I used White Insign Model paints for the extra dark sea grey and slate grey for the upper surfaces. The underside is painted with Humbrol Sky, post shaded with WEM sky.

The barracuda's shapes are a little odd, and the kit not really mainstream... And the plane itself is not that famous! maybe that's why it is so rare...

Thanks for your messages

I have this kit, was it that hard to build or were you experimenting with the masks?

More demanding than what I'm used too, yes, but not that difficult. Of course it needs more attention than a shake'n'bake kit.
The 2 main problem were for closing the half fuselages (which means that the interior parts may be a little too large, or that I messed with something!) and the horizontal parts that supports the landing gear ( parts C15) which didn't fit well.
But nothing a good sanding and puttying can't fix!

Putty...my favorite!!! Still, you have a good looking model there.

Album info

Here is my first attempt tu actually build a short run kit, and using masks for the roundel and codes

The kit is from Special Hooby, and the mask by Montex.

As it's a first try, it's not as succesfuls as I hoped ( especially the left wing roundel), but now I know I can tackle this kind of kit!
