Meng - BMR-3M Amoured Mine Clearing Vehicle - Paint
Prior to paint... Big effort constructing this monster..
Primed with Mr Surfacer 1500 Black...
Priming took some time with all the nooks and crannies to the vehicle and rollers...
Hull textures looking nice...Not too coarse on the hull being a modern vehicle...
Getting better at welding... It was difficult to see the welds when creating them as the colour of the plastic and epoxy putty used to create the welds were very similar...
Very tight down between the fenders and the sides...
Base coat if Tamiya XF73... Darkest green to.commence post shading...
I accidentally bought Gunze pure Lacquer instead of their Aqueous line to mix with tamiya... So have to make a quick change in the paint plan... Dohh..!!
First layer of post shading... 40:60 Mix of XF26 Deep Green XF67 NATO Green as the mid tone...
Previous layer lightened with XF88 by about 30%
Last post shade... Further XF88 Dark yellow added to about 50:50 mix...
Gradient highlights with the final mix of the previous post shade with Deck Tan...
Highlights purposefully over exaggerated for oil filters and rendering...
Panzer Putty dribbled all over... Word of warning don't let this settle for too long... Can bury itself into tight crevices making it a little tricky to remove... Especially to delicate parts...
Base colour of light sand sprayed... This was Light Stone with XF55 Deck Tan to desaturate and and lightning..
First layer of Postshading... Base colour lightened with XF2 White by about 30%...
Second layer of Post shading... Additional 50% XF2 White added to the previous mix... Being Yellow it was overly tinted with white and edge highlights were done...
Panzer Putty carefully removed... My grills will need to be reglued but other than that, no damage... Pheeeww..!
Will be allplying a yellowish green oil filter over this... This is where over doing the lightness of colours comes into play... Keeping bright and cheerful then applying a filter helps dial in the colour without making the model too dark...
Demarcations came out pretty well...
2 colours down... 1 to go...
Last colour applied... Quick flat varnish to seal it in...
Abt502 Oils mixed into a Yellow Green filter...
Love filters and the subtle shift in richness...
Pin wash and dirt passes being applied with Abt502 Shadow Brown...
Almost there with the pin wash...
Pin wash finished..
I think I'll give this a Tan Oil Filter as another unifying layer... Then maybe some variations to individual panels to highlight demarcations between things...
Acrylic highlights to small details commenced...
Vajello Green Sky and Pale Sand were used to pick out the details...
Detail painting here and there...
Acrylic highlights and Detail painting done...
And a few acrylic glazes to the ERA blocks to finish out the night..
Prepping the Mine rollers with some metallics prior to colour... Bit of an experiment with chipping fluid and chipped top coats to the mine plough...
Chrome and Blue steel metallics to the mine ploughs teeth...
Welds came out alright i think..
Wee little welds...
Getting my predust on...
Extremely subtle but its so easy to turn your model into one big chalkie
Predusting to the BMR done..!
