Tyler Reddick 'The Beast Unleashed' Monster Toyota TRD Camry stock car

Album image #1
The 1:1 scale car.

Started preliminary body work on the Salvinos JR NASCAR Toyota TRD Camry stock car by removing the front clip warp from the body by submerging the front of the body in heated tap wate from the stove, then quickly dunking it in ice cold water so it holds its shape.

Album image #3
Outside of the warped snout, I'd say Salvinos JR nailed the Toyota shell body nicely.

Also, I drilled out and removed the molded-on hood and deck lid pins in preparation for Detail Master's photoetched scuff plate/hood pin replacements.

Well, it's black. Painted the Reddick 'Beast Unleashed' Monster Camry with Tamiya Gloss Black TS-14, which was decanted and airbrushed. Added a few drops of Mr. Color Leveling Thinner for extra smoothness. I'll let this dry for a few days, then wet-sand the dust and other debris out of the paint, and then polish the paint to a mirror shine.

That'll do. I wet-sanded the paint for the Tyler Reddick 'Beast Unleashed' NASCAR Toyota Camry, using my trusty LMG micro-mesh polishing set to remove the dust embedded in the paint and level out the surface, then used The Treatment model buffing cream to make her shine again. I was pleased that the paint job was good enough straight from the airbrush to allow me to start with a 4000 grit pad instead of the lower grit pads in the set.

I am very happy with how this looks, and am looking forward to seeing it really come to life when I start applying the decals (which will be here Thursday).

These Salvinos JR NASCAR Toyota kits only come with a GM engine, so through some paint mimicry and TRD logo decals for the valve covers, we a Toyota engine. In spirit anyways.

Mockup time for the Tyler Reddick 'Beast Unleashed' Toyota. All four wheels are square relative to the body, and touching the tabletop surface at the same time. Now that everything is squared up, I can glue all of the wheel mounts permanently to the chassis. Now to finish the rest of the rollcage/chassis assembly. Then I can start decaling the body.

Salvinos JR really captured the stance of these Next Gen cars nicely.

That went much better this time. Clearcoated the Beast Unleashed Toyota with Testors Lacquer Glosscote, thinned with Gunze Mr. Color Leveling Thinner.

Added a few missing details (roof radio antenna, front valance and rear facia camera fairings), and also took better photos outdoors where the lighting is significantly nicer than my workbench lights.
