Curtiss A-12 Shrike

The resin kit main pieces. 

A-12's over Wheeler Field, Oahu, most probably from 26th Attack Squadron. While still on the Island during the attack, I think they had been replaced by more modern planes and were in storage somewhere. 

Coming together, I do like that the resin can be dipped in hot water and reshaped to take out any kinks. 

The paint scheme is applied for the Hawaiian based 26th Attack sqn. A-12. 

The A-12 is finished. These pre-war yellow-wing schemes are a stand-out. I have a Vindicator, B-10 and PBY-1 that will also be done with yellow-wing, though with a metal finish fuselage. 

The Shrike is quite big when you compare it to a fighter(Peashooter) of similar era. I have given up on using the Microscale varnishes as they cause grazing of the underlying paint (and varnish) coats. I've tried different paints (Gunze Aqueous, Vallejo, Tamiya Acrylic) and varnishes and giving it up to week drying time and it still causes cracks, so its into the bin for Microscale ! 

Used a hyperdermic needle as pitot as the supplied resin one was impossible to extract from protective resin film and would have been pretty weak anyway. The end.
