Thank you James & Rui, the paint did the job itself, AK Xtreme Polished Alum, good stuff but it doesn't take masking well, no it does not peel but the masking adhesive stick stubbornly to it. luckily i found out it can be removed with rolling blue tack over it !!!

Note for Mig-21:
The first problem I faced was deciding how to deal with the decals after checking the history of MiG-21 No. 5121. The real aircraft in the museum is well preserved, but it's hard to tell which markings were really there during the war and which were added or removed later. In the end, I chose to use all the decals from the instruction sheet.
The next question was: which version should I build?
If I want to show the jet on the day it shot down the B-52, then it shouldn't have any kill marks yet.
If I want to copy how it looked during outdoor display years ago, I should add 8 kill marks.
If I want to match how it looks now in the museum, then only 5 kill marks should be used.
Finally, I chose to build the version from the day it shot down the B-52, with the right weapons load. But I still added 8 kill marks on the nose to honor this great aircraft.
The last issue was the silver paint. When I put decals on top, the finish looked uneven and shiny. To fix this, I lightly sprayed some silver paint over the decals to make everything look smoother.
Next time, for large decals on silver surfaces, I might use masking and paint the markings instead of using decals, to get a better result.

those are pretty good resources, from what I can tell the Box art and decals are not portraying an actual plane, Every photo that depicts the felix the cat has a different color stripe, red, black, the decal sheet comes with white? I think the problem is there is no "famous" version of this plane, LIke the Butch Ohare wildcat or the flying tigers p40. this was a non famous plane. I might just have to make something non historically accurate because I already painted

plus I should have put the rigging on while I was building, It needs to be tight, like it is under stress. thread will look floppy

At the moment I'm inventing some PE for the exhaust muffler protections (non-existent in this kit) and next, I will Try to scratch the Nebelkerzenabwurfvorrichtung, seen in the photo reference, also non-existent in this kit.

With the finishing of the base this project is done. The base was sprayed with white primer and hot orange from opposite directions, creating a nice optical effect. I glued the tank to the base, it will be in the KMK contest on 1 june.

Hi @Edouard and @Nick, thank you both for your extremely kind and encouraging comments 🙂 Yes, I do love to build these old kits too straight out of the box. Accepting I'm cheating somewhat and avoiding complication by not utilising aftermarket or similar. I will be chuffed to bits if my build album offers any other modeller a tip or two - that would make me very proud. I've painted a few kits using a 'hairy stick' now, with a variety of manufacturers of paint, my advice, thin it well and use multiple coats 👍 I built this one a few years back now and could do better if I attempted again - I did enjoy the scheme for sure. @nick I'll definitely take a perusal through your builds also. Thank you both again and thanks to all who've recently liked too 🙂 👍

Neil, sorry, but I do not think, not utilising aftermarket it's cheating, I think it's it's quite completely the opposite 😄 😉 So You must be very proud of your achivemments, of course. 👍 But hey that's just my too cent...
It would be bad for us all if, on a second attempt, we did a worse job than we did on the first.🤔 it could happen, but it would be bad.

I love the Victor, but I don't like old kits, so I have the new one from Airfix. 😄 Because filling and sanding is not for me either.
Good build and the VMS paint is extremely matt. I like their products, I think many of them are better than the ever-present stuff from AK & Co.

Those cage aerials are a daunting task. Congratulation for the results!
The copper wire from electrical applications will have a thin isolation coat. And they might even have residues of oil from manufacturing on them. Maybe it helps to burn off the coating with a lighter? Usually I don't have issues with copper wire and super glue, but it might help.

It's done now, the ships are placed into the showcase with all aerials and boats fixed. These boats kept coming off until the last, I advise to keep them uninstalled until after rigging. Two tricolores were painted on alufoil. The fourth Loire plane was pended from the crane but the barycentre is wrong, so a slackline had to be added to get the nose down.
