Roy McKay Updated picture texts. Only real issues with these models are the misshapen nose radomes. I got over this by mounting the radomes in a slightly nose down attitude by adding a plastic sheet sleeve inside it and the fuselage, and filling the resulting gap at the top.
Roy McKay Building F-14A 160388 VF-41 AJ-105 using Italeri kit decals. Can anyone confirm the correct FS numbers for the scheme? It looks bluer and darker than the "normal" later TPS and the squadron markings are lighter than the base coat.
Roy McKay This is the old tool Academy kit with some plastic surgery for rhinoplasty. The kit is reasonably OK but the nose radome is way too pointed and throws off the whole look of the model. As part of my Nimitz collection this kit was chosen for the (in my opinion) most boring scheme VF-84 wore. I've used Superscale decals but the instructions are useless and I've yet to see an actual photo of any VF-84 Tomcats painted in this scheme. Superscale also give a Bu. No for a plane that didn't exist when these decals were printed and definitely not an F-14A. I've used the instructions for a 1/48 sheet that includes 160382 as a guide and reckon this is what Superscale were intending.
Roy McKay Sorry no in progress photos. Happy enough how this turned out. Well, happier than my last attempt at the Hasegawa Tomcat anyway. Its still an overly fussy build though. My initial plan was to build this and a Matchbox kit to have both 1st and last Tomcats side by side. Ah well...

Razif Bahsir Not sure about the scale, but the Falcon is at 65mm and Slave at 20mm, Its on sale in Buyee at 7000yen for buyout price if youre interested, not sure if i can share links in here. The box has seen some rough time. btw iam not a seller, just was fishing for stuffs and found it haha. *The Falcon is ANH version.

Roy McKay Here's another aircraft that seems to have avoided ever being photographed.... F-14A VF-84 AJ-200 160382 in this overall gull grey scheme with all black markings. I think it must have been a one-off and short lived. It says it was 1983 but again I can't find a photo of it. Anyone ever seen one?
Roy McKay I'm looking for a photo of the VA-82 aircraft off this sheet. AJ-306 in this scheme seems to have been very camera-shy. I've only ever seen one model done with these markings and it was in TPS lo-vis grey. The Superscale instructions say it was gull grey/white. Anyone ever seen a photo of the real plane? Even Nimitz cruise books are no help.
