I quit with building. The reason is that my eyes (who were already bad) turned worse. I hate it to make a model that looks bad because I don't see enough to make it better.
I will be online sometimes to see what you are building. Will like the models I love but I will not be able to build it myself anymore according to my blindness

You are in my prayers. If there is anything that I can do for you? My wife has vision issues with her left eye that is due to after effects of a brain surgery 12 years ago. Now the doctors are recommending a cornea transplant. We don't really know what to do. Up to now her right eye is carrying the work. The vision in her left eye is about 20 /400.

Ard S. My first idea was to build it in a project with an other car. But when this kit was finished I was proud and it deserve a place like in a museum. So I have built the diorama. Fun kit to work with and like we all know it goes better and better the more you build.
Ard S. Today I start to build the wooden cabin for the cardump (I hope it is the right word) The fireman in the building is only for looking if the door and the height is enough. Just a simple project where I can loose lots of material I will never use..

Jonathon Herring To right, Istvan. Some manufacturers supply two dashes but they are rare. One left and one right hand drive. Switching right to left and vice versa can be done but it is not easy. I accomplished it with an Arii 1/32 Toyota Celsior. The car looks like an average Camry once the bodywork is filed off or replaced. It was ambitious for the time, with the skill set I had. Still came out good, and my modeling improved because of it. I bought another one so I could do it again.
Lawrence Landis I purchased a kit for a Theme contest in our Club. The Theme for December is station wagons. What we sometimes refer to as Longbacks.
I have an AMT kit of a1923 Model T Depot Hack. This would have been the original station wagon. They would haul passenger luggage from the train station to the hotel.
I'm thinking about making it an original type of Woody for surfers.
Ard S. Today I have decided to stop with this project. I miss too much parts and the second problem is that it is too small for me to see it right and to build. The painting of the figures was too difficult with my eye problems.
No photos off building. I hope that I can do more later this week when the painting and building job (a new bathroom is much work) are finished.

I have a serious question and I hope you can advice me.
I love to build cars and other stuff but I don't like to build anything that is war related. Don't know why but I don't like it.
Now I am thinking that I want to build a big diorama. Maybe a whole city but there is not much available to build if you have scale 1:24 (except the vehicles)
But if you build in for example H0 then you can only build house and other things but no vehicles.
And I think you know better than me what is possible everywhere so I thought maybe you can advice me what is smart to do.
Or maybe you know on what scale I can build both. Cars, building, make a whole city...
I hope with your answers I can find out if a city is possible.
Today I have been searching on internet what I really like and really would build and the problem seems bigger then I have been thinking (so the challenge is bigger and in that way I like it...)
For example, I have build a set on scale 1:72 and with my bad sight that is too hard and to difficult to build.
So H0 is in that way not a solution. All the ideas with a scale from 1: 144 or 1:150 till 1:72 I need to put away cause I know I can not build hat cause I see to less and I know maybe the building could be done (I have instruments to see things which I hold close to my face but the big parts like a hill or a road outside the city will be a big problem.
I have find buildings as kits on a scale 1:22,5 (I don't think it is very different from 1:24 or 1:25 but I think on the other hand you will see it) Beside that just a simple house (and yes that is less work I think as a car) the prices are so high that for 1 building I can buy 3 or 4 cars. I saw for example a church and more then 150 euro... I know a hobby takes time and money but that is way to expensive I think.
Then we get to 1:32 or 1:35. More available for the buildings but most is half houses. There are few houses to find. There is a lot of stuff what can be used so that makes it more interesting.
So my head is almost spinning and the ideas are getting bigger and bigger.
But on a scale 1:24 a house that is 8 meter high will be 33 cm high. A church what have a tower from 25 meter high (pretty normal for a church I think) will be 104 cm. A building with 20 floors (I guess that will be 40 meter high) will be 1.66 (bigger then my wife)
If I use the same heights at 1:35 it will be for the house 23 cm and the church wil be 71 cm high..The building of the 20 floors will be 1.14 cm high.
The more I think of it, the more I understand that it will be a big think to make and to build all kind of things.
I am still thinking and please give me more input. It really helps me to find the good ideas..

Ard S. Today I made the diorama ready. When I look back it was a good kit to build. I have fun with the decorations around the vehicle.
So I am happy with the result in the end.

Lawrence Landis When I was in Oshkosh one year for an airshow, a contingent of EAA members from Australia, chartered a Qantas747 and flew it to the airshow. It was too big to land at the airport, but they buzzed the field several times before flying to Ohare to land.
Just a quick question.
When you are building a model, do you start with an other one?
I know that waiting for drying is not my best thing to do, so I am curious how you manage that.
Lawrence Landis I have a Revell 67 Chevelle body that was painted using Testors One Coat Mystic Maroon that has been soaking in Super Clean for over a week and the paint is finally starting to give up. It isn't fast but once the paint starts to give up, you are getting somewhere. Overnight it will usually strip chrome parts. I keep a gallon container, large funnel and autobody paint filters to strain out debris every so often. It helps to extend the useful life of the Super Clean if you keep it super clean. lol

Lawrence Landis Our temperature has been running in the low 80 degrees Fahrenheit range and humidity has been fairly low. Great weather for painting outside. I plan to build a small picture booth when I can make room. I have to take pics on my freezer, stove or hope for a sunny day.
I have a question.
I bought for my son when he was twelve two models of an airplane with Haribo. He doesn't like it to build but he has painted 1 model (only 2 parts with Revell email paint) No I want to make it; can I remove the paint, or can I paint it over with Revell Aqua? Thanks for your answers
Lawrence Landis That looks like it will make a very interesting model display. I look forward to seeing it. What is your plan for the paint work?. I can see it as a pristine freshly painted or as a slightly weathered work truck.

Lawrence Landis I can see it as a parts truck and how you finish it will show how hard they used it. A great project.
