Fairey Battle Mk. I

Album image #1
As ussually first step is rescribing of all panel lines. Here its overdone, but my experiences with brush painting are that after several layers the lines soften a lot.

Album image #2
Here are all the resin parts. They are high detailed and in high number, this is my second go on the resin interior and I dont like it. I managed to cut out the main parts and made a lot of mess, damaging the one sidewall of pilot cockpit.

Album image #3
To leave the gunner canopy open you need to cut the canopy to separate parts. I never belived I could do this, but result is quite OK, just one little crack appeared.

Album image #4
The assembly of landing gear bay is in directions quite confusing and some research is needed to find out how it actually should be. I spent some time sorting out, how to proceed the build to make it right, since no alignment bits are present here.

Album image #5
The cockpit resin parts in color. I hate to paint the instrument panel manually.

Wings with landing gear. I managed to glue it a bit off axis (had to be straight to the ground), but with wheels it will look fine.

Album image #8
Finally the interior is in, the front part went easy, but the rear was bad, had to sand down the sidewalls to minimum.

There is camo under canopy as well, so painting first.

This is a canopy after my attempt to fix the additional framing of pilots compartment.

Album image #21
This is how you end up following the instructions, pilot is sunk deep inside. I am not going to fix this, but I wish I forseen this duting dry fitting.

Great start! I always wanted to do the Battle in 1/72, but thought that the Airfix kit was the only game in town. Very interested in how this goes together, and how accurate it is. Maybe Special Hobby will do with this kit as they did with the Barracuda 👍

I have that kit, wondering how hard it is to assemble. Will follow 🙂

Great looking cockpit, Petr! Haven't done a lot of resin myself, so always interesting to see how it goes together.

Watching!! As I understood the reviews of this kit, the canopy has a problem with the number of frames.

Could you provide some more details Dave? There's only a single review attached here on scalemates and it doesn't mention that.

Well I am aware of the canopy problem, there should't be so much frames over the pilots compartment, you can see it on my photo of the canopy. It seems sanding and polishing should fix it.

Outstanding result, that was very challenging build.
Many thanks for the hints and comments, that would be v.helpful once any of us becomes brave enough to follow your path 🙂

I agree with Łukasz. I hope to Airfix release a Battle's new tool and a Javelin in this scale.
