SCM Topic: Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter
Hi all, I would like to propose a name change to the above Topic. As a prototype I can't see any evidence of a 'Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter' existing other than in connection to the fictional 'Thomas the Tank Engine' series, but the kits matched to the Topic currently all represent the following vehicle:
'204HP 0-6-0 Drewry Shunter'
which is what I propose the name be changed to.

I have already corrected some of the Topic info (eg manufacturer: Bachmann, who make models, to Drewry Car Co Ltd), and added the appropriate synonym (British Rail Class 04).

There is also a Wikipedia page for this vehicle, although this page uses its later TOPS name of 'British Rail Class 04' - is there any to link this page to the Topic as well?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_04

Happy to provide any further info if needed.

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that the Wikipedia page above states that the Kitmaster/Dapol kit is indeed based on the BR Class 04 aka 204HP 0-6-0 Drewry Shunter.
I still haven't been able to find any information stating that a 'Junior 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter' is a real vehicle.

This could be solved by classing them all under the same main base topic and using the Markings option to specify the variant, similar to how it's already done with a lot of other vehicles. For example:
F-16A Fighting Falcon (Revell 04363, 1:72)
Lockheed Martin F-16 C Solo Türk (Revell 04844, 1:72)
These both depict variants of the same base F-16 plane but are different variants with a lot of different parts as a result.
So for the example the Barbatos Lupus would fall under the Barbatos topic with the markings defining it as the Barbatos Lupus, and then it can be linked as a new parts kit of the original.

Sure, that makes sense for those variant Barbatos kits, but would it work for the common base kits? Or those using parts from kits from unrelated lines, like the Build lines?

Ben, go to the kit page, scroll down to the review section. On the right upper corner of each review you can see a little pencil. Click on it - a menu comes up where you have some options like Broken link and more. Don't forget to press the Save button.
Have fun!

Eduard issued kit no. 7083 (Bf-110E Profipack) as a new tool in 2012. In 2023 they issued a re-release of the same kit but with a new box and new decals but still used the original kit no. The latter kit is not currently in the Scalemates database. How does one resolve the duplicate kit number situation when entering the latter kit?

With Diecast Distributors Australia (DDA) now making a range of Australian cars as plastic kits, it has highlighted a lot of incorrect Topics as there were very few around when the existing Topics were created.

Should I just add new Topics and reclassify the products correctly, and then request deletion of redundant topics (given that Topics don't seem to be editable)?

'82 DeLorean DMC-12 (Aoshima 064351, 1:24) is NOT the Time Machine from "Back To The Future", it is just a regular Delorean car kit. It should NOT be multitopic, and I've removed the Time Machine topic from this kit. All 80's Deloreans are not Time Machines.

I still maintain that the non Time Machine version of the Delorean should not be a multi-topic including Time Machine, because it is not a Time Machine, it's just a regular Delorean car model. Regardless if the Time Machine kit starts out with the same base mold and sprues (it probably does) as the regular car kit, they should still be separate topics. If anything, it's the Time Machine kit which should be multi-topic, not the other way around.
21 August, 21:18
Spanjaard
I certainly agree with that 🙂 the question (I think) is if they can be in the same timeline, one being one topic and the other multi-topic. right now only the "time machine" one has a timeline. the other does not seem to have one. and both are single-topic. one as Delorean, the other as time machine. while the time machine should have both. anyway, i think now is in the hands of our webmaster 🙂

SCM Topic: L&YR-class 21 0-4-0ST
Topic for this series of kits is incorrect; should be 'L&YR Class 21 0-4-0ST' not 'LMS Kitson 0-4-0ST'
The LMS Kitson is a completely different locomotive with a shorter tank and coal bunker in front of the cab (not features of the kits nor of the L&YR Class 21) plus many other less obvious differences. As far as I'm aware, there are no plastic model kits available for the Kitson, certainly none that are as well known as the Kitmaster/Airfix/Dapol Pug kit.

See the Wikipedia entry for this topic/subject for confirmation of the original kit being based on the L&YR Class 21 locomotive, first full paragraph under Models section:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%26YR_Class_21

I have corrected the erroneous information on the topic page, but I am unable to correct the topic title.
