Robert W Martel OK, just got the FULL Refund $21.94. Whew!! I've got a Headache !! These kind of issues just don't sit well with me at this stage in my life. Anyway, thanks for the all input guys, appreciate it. Now it's time to CHILL OUT !! LOL. I'll write him a Polite thanks.
I guess I have a few extra parts for who knows what. Could buy another Yorktown I guess !!

wilky That's the go Robert. Most definitely get another Yorktown

Robert W Martel LOL. That's kinda what I'm figurin' Wilky. I do like the WWII planes & carriers (modern ones too, but...)
Then I'll have 9 or 10 extra planes for it. The Revell kit comes with 20 SBDs. Then I'd have 30 planes on a ship that carried 72 +- airplanes!! That would work since these kits have no hanger deck. I've seen pics of cv-5 under steam with the flight deck pretty much loaded w/planes, so it don't think it will be TOO many. lol.
I will definitely be a bit more cautious with the next one (I keep telling myself that!). I'm still seeing sealed ones available, twice the price, but..........probably worth it !!
Cheers!

Robert W Martel Well... so I found another one that's still sealed 1987 issue for $39.99 shipped. Not bad I guess, at least I know it will all be there! I'll have plenty of spare parts too. And after looking at it again it does have somewhat of a fore & aft flight deck.

wilky All things come to those that keep looking. I hope that you don't encounter the same situation I did when I purchased two Hasegawa kits that were "sealed".
When I opened the packaging both had been opened at the back and the remaining shrink wrap was taped back up to the back of the boxes and both were missing the decals and one the instructions too. I received a partial refund from the seller but still have the two kits sitting waiting in some kind of kit limbo.
I had a most disappointing day on eBay earlier this week. I was watching a 1/72 F-4E/F Phantom kit with R.A.A.F. decals from a manufacturer that isn't even on Scalemates and the fifteen minute reminder was thirty seven minutes late and I never bid and every time I've missed an old odd kit I never see it again but hopefully if I keep looking

Robert W Martel Yikes Wilkey!.... well, there are several pics and it does look to be completely sealed, so I'm hoping for the best. Seems they also released this one in 2011, but from the same molds I'm sure, so hopefully I have a slightly sharper detail issue (the decals are old though!), and I'll have some extra planes for it. Should have it early next week. I'll post when it comes.
Ebay is frustrating sometimes to say the least. When I bought this last one I swore "Never Again" will I buy a kit that isn't sealed at least on the inside, but I've said that before!
On one side I hate it...prices for some old kits are ridiculous, on the other side it's the only place you'll find them. I've also had more than one disappointment for sure. BUT....I've found some kits I never thought I would, but paid dearly, some I'm sure I never will. I've only been back at it for 2-1/2 years and I'm looking every day with a search list a mile long!
I know it sucks when you miss out on something good by no fault of your own! Just gotta keep your chin up and keep searching! Any other sources for kits where you are?
My town use to have a couple of decent "hobby shops" but they've been gone a long time (20+ yrs)
Hobby Lobby is the only game in town for models, I've gotten lots there and with a 40% off coupon are a super deal.
Ah....ya never know ya might get lucky mate! NEVER SAY DIE !! Cheers

Robert W Martel Got it ! Factory Sealed, real nice box, brand new inside, not all banged up, even the decals look great. Very nice for a 30 yr. old kit. Sweet. Happy camper this time.

There is a photo-etch set for this kit made by Gold Medal Models and although listed under their 1/400 scale it is in fact 1/480 scale. goldmm.com/ships/gms4ordr.htm
